Last weekend was my first trip to the Pine Barrens and despite the distance away from me, I'm hooked. And apparently so are some others!

Date: Saturday, April 5th, 2009
Meeting Time: 10:00 A.M.
Meeting Location: Atsion Ranger Station

Some confusion occurred last weekend as to the location of the meeting place. Unfortunately while I was able to post up a link on Google Maps for the exact location of the Atsion Ranger Station (Wharton State Forest), I was unable to, at the time, find an exact address that could be used with GPS units. And while I cannot remember if this was exactly the address, when entered into Google it does put it within a few meters of where I have Atsion marked; which is about as close as you can hope for when using Google.

744 Rte 206
NJ 08088

I will attempt entering it in my GPS unit tomorrow morning to verify if it works or not. Regardless, I would suggest that if you are unfamiliar with the area of the Ranger Station that you print out a set of directions using the link provided above.

Confirmed Attending:

surfkj

Try this adress to see if it matches the GPS coord you have.

Atsion office:
Wharton State Forest
744 Route 206
Shamong, NJ 08088

Unfortunately I'm tied up...I'll be semi-close...taking my boy to a Karate Tournament in Aston, PA and then visiting my parents in West Chester, PA afterwards... :(

That's pretty much the same address as what I posted previously (except for some reason Google doesn't want to know the town name). The question is whether or not the GPS will accept that address. I'll give it a shot when I'm out and about today and see if I can't figure out a way to make it work.

Ditto. It worked in my Magellan. For mine it only seemed to want to work if you used the zip code to narrow down the search/address rather than the city. Regardless, hopefully we'll have better luck meeting up this time!

Sounds great. I don't fully trust the GPS units anyway. I usually always bring a copy of my own directions from Google Maps (avoiding the major toll roads, etc...). However, that above address should work in the GPS.

David Jr, surfkj, would you guys be able to make it if we did it on Sunday instead of Saturday or is it too last minute to change? I had something come up for Saturday, but it's something I can forgo if need-be. I just thought I'd see if I could do two things this weekend instead of just one! Let me know. If it's a pain in the booty or you've already set to go Saturday, that's fine. Just throwing it out there.

Okay. Change of plans for me. I cannot make it out on Saturday. This optional thing I had come up just became mandatory... I switched the post for Sunday since both surfkj and myself can go. David Jr, let me know if you can make it Sunday. Thanks and sorry for the last minute change.

Okay. David Jr is good to go, but not until 12. So, I plan on getting there at 10. We can scope out some trails and meet him back there at 12. I may be there without a driver side window. My KJ was broken into today. I'm trying to get it fixed tomorrow morning, but it may not be done in time. Doesn't bother me none... I'll just wear some goggles!

I had taken my GPS Unit & Head Unit off and put them both in my center console. They smashed the window in and took the GPS Unit out of the center console as well as the mounting bracket and power cord from the windshield. They also decided they needed my Oakley Sunglasses and BRAND NEW Military Jeepers Ball Cap more than me. Fortunately they left all of my audio equipment as well as some things I had just bought from the store which is why I wasn't too mad about it. I have a great policy so it shouldn't be a problem.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to try and get a hold of my insurance agency and file a claim. If I can't reach them, I'm heading over first thing (7:30) to get the window replaced (hopefully). If it doesn't get done then, I'll be wheeling with no window!

I'm mostly pissed about my friggin' Military Jeepers hat! I only had it for 24 hours. 23 of which I was wearing the thing! It figures It take it off when I go into the store and it gets stolen!

Well, like I said... The shop opens tomorrow at 7:30 and I have until 10:30 to get her repaired or I'm screwed. After that I'm held up all day and Sunday they're closed. Hopefully they can repair her right then and there.

It's too bad I didn't get there sooner... I could have showed them the benefits of having a Concealed Carry License.

Guys, i'm gonna have to take a rain check on this trip. I have a bad cold and i don't want to try to do any 4 wheeling feeling like this. my head is stuffed up, i'm blowing my nose and sneezing every couple of minutes. Also, i might have a chance to buy a 1978 Jeep CJ7 with the 304 V8, auto and all the goodies but the only time i can see him is sunday afternoon. i'll sign up the next time a Pines trip is planned.

 Sorry
