What's your ETA on Thursday? I've got at least a six hour drive, and SJC is running a convoy leaving at 8am (ETA 4PM allowing for the lunch stop, etc), but I'll probably be leaving earlier to get there by 2pm. :D

Over articulation, I like to drive what can I say, but thats the price.....

It gets BETTER..
Rear diff, star gears.....all chipped and rooted......car is apart... darn, should have got the DTT for the rea, I knew I should have..

So... Now I have to decide..

Try and get NEW star gears for Mansfield... Waiting on them to call me back with price, and rebiuld my existing diff centre

Get a second hand diff centre, eith Jeeepart or maybe one of the lads that did change theirs out..

Just throw hands in the air and get a DTT for the rear ( have them reassemble that rear for the time being and drive VERY carefully until it arrives)

This just keeps getting better and better..

If G'me Mud didn't take his star gears back with him they may still be sitting in a workshop on Toombul Road.

Right...........

Gerard the wizz that he is , just happened to have a spare rear end for a Kj sitting in his garage, so he jumped in his car and brought it up last night, I took it in there this morning but, alas, it was not complete and did not have all the star gears.....

So, they are temporarily putting the old stuff back in and I now have to get a DTT from the states, to replace the whole centre...They said it would be OK to drive for the mean time, (2weeks or so ) as well, for me to limit driving and also drive in 4wd to take some of the strain off the rear..... definately NO offroading or long distance travel.

Ross...... Do you have the link and the part number on the DTT you have installed in the rear of yours, so I know that what I get in will fit..

I have my old centre sitting in the shed, but I was intending to keep it as a back up if needed.
CMohr, if it only the star gears chipped you would be surprised how long they will last if you drop the oil regularly to get rid of any metel in the oil, my old panel van went for years with chipped star gears and when I finnaly got round to repair it they were no werse than when I first looked at them some 80000ks earlier.

Well trying to get it fixed asap, so I have sent a message to that supplier you gave me, and hoping to hear back soon..

Ross, with the DTT in the rear, did they have to remove the tone rig from the original diff centre and fit it to the DTT for the speedo sensor or does the DTT have the tone ring already on it?????

I think the tone gear goes on with the crown wheel as there was none on the DTT.
Regards Ross

Here is the only exploded view I can find at short notice and it doesn't have a tone ring.

Yeah, I'm with you, they must have to pull the old one off the standard diff and fit it with the new ring gear.

waiting on that bunch to give me a shipped direct price, then I'll order it.

Jeep want 2500 for a track-loc diff centre..............................Madness.. DTT is 10 times the diff for less that half the money.
