Where is all the electricity going to come from for the stupid electric cars that have a range of 40 miles?

It would be nice if they could come up with an alternitive energy source first. And maybe cheaper, the price of just about everything will probably go up.

...emits CO2 as it decomposes. This accounts for the natural CO2 emissions that the Hippies consider OK and part of nature.
The best way to reduce made made CO2 emissions is to make use of good engineering and develop more efficient use of energy. Placing power plants many miles from urban centers and sending the waste heat up cooling towers is stupid to say the least. Production facilities could put good engineering to work and reduce energy consumption as well. Savings in even a medium size plant would pay the wages of an engineer and maintenance workers.

Cap and Trade is an insane way to have a Pseudo Wantabe Wall Street located in Chicago where brokers will shaft us all with their commissions and make lots of money trading carbon credits between companies who produce large amounts of CO2 (like Coal Power Plants Steel, Mills and Foundries) and those who produce little (like Legal Brothels and other service only industries).
I am no brilliant Corporate CEO, but I can figure out what international companies will do to get out of paying the cost of the carbon credits trading; that is move production facilities to parts of the world where they will not need to pay. When this happens do not be surprised to have friends, neighbors, and family laid off and have the product or at least the high CO2 emitting part of the operation being done in Africa or other parts of the world exempt from the carbon credits scam.

The Cap and Trade Scam needs to be stopped in its tracks and put to rest for ever. European countries are already paying the price for a version this scam in lost jobs.

I hope enough people wake up and and see Cap and Trade for what it is.

Cap and Trade is beyond Politics it is a threat to our, Culture, life styles, and our survival.

This is nice to hear.
What are we going to do?
What are we going to leave for the children?
Let the Chinese burn coal, we will import gasoline? Sheer madness.

It should be obvious, all they want to do is, "CONTROL" :!:

Those who have the ability to be leaders will have people who will follow them because they are doing what is logical.

Those who do not have the ability to lead resort to being tyrants since no one will willingly follow them.

The new technology (Developed by the U.S. Navy) with fuel rods that can be recycled with less than 5% waste and can not be made into weapons is what the Green Peace Founder is thrilled about.
There is no OFFICIAL RELEASE of this info to the news media, but Every One in DC knows about it including the 545 power brokers, both parties, and this includes the 9 appointed Judges on the Supreme Court.
Plans are being made to make the New Nuclear Technology available to the world including the developing African countries.

It is situations like this that makes me wonder why we didn't start doing what Popular Mechanics did back in the early 70's.... they converted an existing V-8 in a AMC Gremlin to run on hydrogen. No fancy fuel cell crap, just a internal combustion engine running on hydrogen using the same technology as an engine running on LP or LNG. Power output was impressive and there was NO CO2 and only a small level of NOx, which is easy to clean up. A totally environment friendly burn and no having to sacrifice power or spend a small fortune for a bunch of batteries and fancy fuel cell technology. Every gasoline engine could convert over with minimal parts and a reprogram of the ECM. Now just use nuclear to the power generation to produce hydrogen from water to supply the fuel. Doesn't solve the diesel engine issue but would be giant leap in reduction of traditional fuel use.

I know this sounds simpler than probably is, but if we had moved in this direction many years ago, we would have something cost effective. Also, would still be able to pull that cattle trailer with that 1 ton dually in a pasture 20 miles from the nearest plug in for an electric motor or run a Jeep in a remote area. Would not have been a perfect solution, but what is? At least it would be very feasible and clean to keep the tree hugging population happy...... but then.... I seem to be under the perception that these people really don't want ANY engines operating on whatever fuel.

Oh well....

How big would the hydrogen tanks be on a internal combustion, V8 truck that wanted a range of 300 miles? There would unlikely be enough room for any payload. Put that nuclear electricity into some storage batteries under the seat and viola, a cheap, clean, efficient, vehicle useful in the real world. I like all alternatives to the wasteful commuters that we have now, but I've never been a big fan of hydrogen as an energy storage medium. It is just not dense enough to be practical.

Hydrogen? It’s obvious you haven’t looked very far into using this type of fuel.
First problem is: How do you prevent hydrogen embrittlement?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_embrittlement

Second, it’s lethal. If you have any leak at all, static will ignite it. By the way, it burns at the speed of sound. Very explosive. Also it doesn’t dissipate very well so parking under any kind of cover or enclosed area is forbidden by law.

Third, you can’t carry enough to go far enough to be practical.
Did you know that there is more hydrogen in a liter of gasoline than there is in a liter of liquid hydrogen? Don’t believe me, look it up.

There is much more to this and I won’t go into it here.
Yes there are many alternatives, this shouldn’t be one of them.

Think Hindenburg....it got along nicely on hydrogen for awhile.
