Man am I glad I did a uoa before I bought a pristine '06 CRD and I am beginning to think that this may not be the engine for me.
Here are the number from a 15,000 mile Liberty,

Iron 350 7.0
silver 0.0 0.0
Al 27.0 2.1
Chrom 12.5 0.7
cop 19.5 0.2
mag 20.0 554
sodium 19.0 9.7
nickel 6.5 0.2
lead 17.0 0.2
silicon 32.0 0.0
Tin 6.0 8.6
Titanium 6.6 0.0
Boron 96.0 206
Barium 0.6 0.1
Moly 89.0 0.8
Vanadium 6.0 0.0
Zinc 9.7 1437
Manganese 2.0 0.2
calcium 2615 2081
phosphorus 827 1342

With very few exceptions the uoa's on the crd are running roughly 10 x's wear metals from any diesel we have ever owned, including our '07 6.0 Powerstroke.

Any thoughts appreciated, but you have to admit this edition is one sick puppy.

Any idea how many miles on the oil? That iron number is nassssssty regardless. My guess is the oil has never been changed.

Only 15,000 miles? Engine is still breaking in. That should be the second oil change.

Tomone, how did you get those numbers from a truck you are
considering for purchase?

Does anyone know of a thread here relating to using
bypass oil filters? I have an Amsoil bypass filter on
my diesel Samurai.

CRDJoe, When I spoke to the dealer on the phone I mentioned that nothing would happen until I took a sample and got the results back-they said that this was a first..

ATXKJ, tnks for that link those uoa's were an awful lot better than the others I have seen, though I will say that the highest on our rv which has an '07 Ford 6.0 Powerstroke was 39 ppm iron and that was just after delivery from the converter-perhaps 1,100 miles, factory fill, the last was 24 at 23k miles.
RT, those numbers are probably the average of what has been posted-really not bad.

UFO/onthehunt, your guess is the same the lab has-unfortunately there are no records-if it has never been changed -maybe- the iron would be in this range. The wierd thing is that the body/paint on this one are in better than show room conditon and it is NOT a repaint. So in my mind its unlikely that someone as anal as the previous owner has to be, the oil changes probably were not ignored???????? But this in conjunction with the high silicon tells me that damage probably has been done.

Thanks for the posts, I'll keep looking.

non severe oci is 12,500 mile, from what you are saying it sounds like a garage queen second/third vehicle. As such with so few miles on it the org owner may have figured no biggie.

Again, does anyone here know of a bypass oil filter thread? Or something related to that.

Try this,

www.microgreenfilter.com

2 filters for $49 delivered, I spun one on the other day, we'll see. I don't do a oil anaylsis but will judge by the oil on the stick.

I bet you $20 it looks real black after 100 miles till you change it. Interesting filter though. Too bad you can't prove they work with a uoa. You must not have seen those fancy Amsoil filters. They claim some amazing stuff as well. No one posts their uoa with them either....

Well there were some Amsoil numbers in the older thread - however as with the rest of the thread - folks didn't continue posting - if they did continue with the analysis

standard Amsoil
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=96581#96581

o8k's bypass
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=247757#247757

although as with any data analysis - a single point is not definitive.

Just for comparison here is the uoa for one of our TDI's at 87,000 miles, Delvac 1 - these number are fairly consistent with all our VW diesel reports.
I did change faithfully at 3k miles.
Quite a difference from the Liberty!

iron 7.0
Silver 0.0
Alu 2.1
Chr 0.7
Cop 0.5
Mag 554
Sodium 9.7
Nic 0.2
Lead 0.0
Sil 0.0
Tin 8.6
Titan 0.0
Bor 286
Bar 0.1
Moly 0.8
Van 0.0
Zinc 1437
Man 0.2
Cal 2081
Phos 1342
