Forgive me for asking this question but i've noticed that Mobile appears on this forum quite often and i assume that the writer means Mobil, am i correct or is it spelt that way in certain parts of the world.

If they're referring to the Oil company - it's Mobil or Exxon/Mobil and they just can't type.
(although I might cut Jinstall some slack - that does look like a reasonable price)

if they're referring to Mobile Alabama -then it's spelled correctly.

or they could be referring to something mobile - so that it moves.

Isn't M 1 ESP designed for DPF equipped engines, and as such low in Zink, Phosphorus, Calcium and all the other goodies which gave the old formula it's fantastic metal protection?

It was what the dealer sold me when I got to the US for the KJ since I could not get the BP oil the dealer in Germany used in it. I have a black and white document showing that it was purchased for the KJ and if itis wrong the dealer sold me the wrong oil. I am not going to have the something happen and the dealer tell me the wrong oil was in it. ESP is alos SUPPOSED to be easier on the EGR.

Don't expect that a document will protect you from a dealer or Chrysler screwing you, even if that document comes DIRECTLY from the DealerConnect system itself.

Ask me how I know. I have such a document showing my factory warranty... And I'm having to pay for replacing my engine (and the turbo before it) out of my own very shallow pocket. I'm not letting this end easily, but I still don't even have the CRD back yet. Still more parts have had to be ordered.

I feel your pain but I have a 2" binder with all records of everything and every receipt for this vehicle that will hold up in court. Every service, every accessory and 90% of every fuel bill ever put in this vehicle. They had better be able to read German.

$35+ a gallon is cheap? I can get Schaeffer 9000 5w40 delivered to my door free of charge for around $20 a gallon or less (depending on amount). I am not convinced that Mobil Delvac 1 is that much superior to Schaeffer 9000.

What are the levels of Zinc etc in yours?

For that matter, HOW can we find out what was removed from the Delvac synth by the enviro-nazis and which oils still have those items? I'm not about to let my older engines (CRD included!) suffer because of some bureaucrat in Sacramento has their panties in a twist over the rest of the US's conditions.

I want those metal-hardening agents. Ditto for any extra lube properties or additives that have been removed. I spent 15 minutes at the oil rack looking at bottles for ANY that mentioned zinc, and found ZIP. Where do we find this info?

Here's one place, if you're not dead set against mobil oils

Yes since the daler was charging me $8.50 and 9.50 a liter and in Germany it was $12-18 a liter for BP Synth 5000 and $32 a liter for MB branded oil. Under $7 is a dream come true.

Thanks CAT. This is great. That V twin and racing oil looks very interesting.

Does Molybdenum count? Schaeffer has no problem with putting a fair amount of it in their synthetic series 9000 and their other oils.

Isn't molybdenum the stuff that is used in break-in oils? I've heard of it before, what exactly does it do?

If "increasing the engine's durability and lifespan" is one of the answers... Hell yes I would want that. I think we are all trying to find the right oil to do that.

Here is a review of Moly basics... http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/index.php ... &Itemid=62
The problem with Moly is the same as with Zink and other metals used for lubrication. They all cause damage to catalytic converters. Not a problem for us, but the EPA does not like what it can possibly do to the millions of cats on the road.

I live in NJ and go to this place every few months and stock up on a few cases of Mobil 5w-40.
They will sell to the public even though they sell majority to dealerships and truck repair shops.
Last time I purchased it came out to roughly $5.90 a qt.

Hope this helps.
