the set of MT/R's I got have about 9k on them but the spare has never seen pavement. CanI safely get that tire into a 5 tire rotation? thinking of starting it out on right rear and maybe running it through the roatation a few times to catch up with the rest of them.

How often do you rotate / how many times have you since you started that 9k? You really SHOULD rotate your spare in as long as its the same tire, as it spreads out the wear and makes them all last longer. If you damage one tire beyond repair at 20k, you're not stuck with a new tire as your 4th or having to replace them all. Damage two beyond repair and you're hosed...

Just always move the spare to the right rear (or wherever, as long as its the same every time) and whatever tire would have gone to that spot should take a vacation on your tailgate.

If it were me, since you've only gone 9k, I'd just start ratating it in and let it rotate out again when its time, like normal.

just been running the 9k's for about a week. thanks for the input. I figured i would be ok with the small difference in size, and yes I like to rotate 5 every oil change. probably going to do 3k with the MT/R's though now that I am running 10k on the Amsoil. 8)

Rotate every 3,000 if you do a lot of city driving, or every 5,000 if you do a lot of highway driving. And I would recommend getting an alignment every year, or in your case, maybe every few months due to being newly lifted. I went with Firestone and paid for a lifetime alignment. I can go for an alignment as many times as I need to or want to at no additional cost. Depending on how much I go off-road, I figured I will get an alignment every 6 months. Rotate your spare ASAP and maintain your five tire rotation. Like mentioned above, the spare wont be as handy if it’s not rotated in.
