Are we talking mandrel bent SS, or SS braided hose?

No not stainless steel thanks, they will get too hot and defeat the purpose of having an intercooler.

Stainless seems like a great idea especially in view of abrasion failures of the Samco hoses. This came up in a quick search and might take care of temperature problems http://www.jegs.com/p/Thermo+Tec/750863/10002/-1

you can also just paint it with thermal paint... or get it coated. as long as its smooth bends I'm in.

Interested. I would prefer raw pipes not coated or polished, will coat them myself.

OK, I will talk to my neighbor about getting those prototypes made ASAP.

I will also discuss the heat sink concerns about stainless steel (like I said, this was MY assumption they would be steel, I could be wrong) with him and see what he says. I was thinking the best solution to that issue would be to ceramic coat it, but again I'm only voicing MY thoughts. ;-) I will defer to his turbo expertise on materials and finishing.

Hopefully I'll have a set to show images of in the next week.

Err... I said a set would cost $200 USD. Not sure where you got the $2000 from. :) But yes, 10 sets would cost $2000.

The heat sink concern is definitely a valid one. I'll run it by him. I thought the lines were stainless steel, however I'm not the turbo expert and COULD be wrong about the materials. He's going to start working on the prototypes this week.

Too many hours looking at the computer, saw an extra 0, no matter how longer I looked at it.

Mine is coated in a thermal paint. You could also just wrap it in "header tape" or similar, from the inner cooler to the motor.

pretty cool. I'm sure the engine cover isn't the only thing different in those au jeeps though

From your link, something for us to consider:

Quote:
Are there any issues with the differential movement between the intercooler and engine? I notice that my engine moves a fair bit.
Are the connecting silicone sections sufficient to absorb this movement?

on my race car i have had them on with zero problems. The silicon hose sections work very well. I run 30 lbs of boost on my car and they have never popped off.

The silicon hoses i had on before blew up like balloons under boost but never popped. I'm sure the samco hoses do the same thing. Not sure if they are 4ply or not but i hear they do inflate quite a bit.
For this reason i switched to metal.

My race car vibrates WAY WAY more then the crd. Many wheelies later the silicon hose sections are still on. I would NOT just use metal clamps. You need the hose sections for shock absorption.
