Intrigued ....yes. Thought about it..yes, a long time ago.

there is very little room for the turbo to intercooler hose and it rubs on ...just about anything on that side of the engine.

So if you fit a bunch of clamps etc....

Anyway, here's the shapes you need:

Use crimp type clamps similar to the ones used on cv boots, should free up some space.

VAG intercooler pipe spring clamps work very well and are low-profile. You might consider selling the pipes and silicone pieces without clamps and let buyers source their own clamps of whichever type they prefer.

Hi all,

Great input on the forum! John from PT Performance (the guy making the hoses) is planning on signing up and getting your input first-hand on this project.

He's starting the work on the hoses over the Memorial Day weekend. I dropped off the keys to my CRD to him today so we he will have access for fitting adjustment.

I'm pretty excited to see what he comes up with!

Cheers!

Not yet.

John has actually set up an account to talk to everyone directly. However, no one has approved his account yet. (PT Performance or something of the like). If there's a moderator/admin on this list, perhaps you can activate him?

I think he'll explain stuff a lot better than I can. :)

I'm on my second set of factory originals but would buy once my extended warranty is up. Heard of a few SAMCO failures so I'm not sold on those yet.
With regards to heat sinks, could the stainless hoses be Jet Hot coated?

Pablo in AZ, saw your car domain page, love the Jeep, your CRD is how I want mine to look. For mods you list upgraded Turbo, please elaborate on make and model and if you noticed an increase in performance. Thanks :D

I asked the admins to look into it.

Hey guys, I am the person who will be building these parts. They will be made from either T304 stainless or mild steel that we either ceramic coat or powder coate (these will be options).

We have been building turbo pipes and intercoolers for several makes and models over the last 8 years. This market seems to have been ignored so I will see about getting these built for you guys.

A few questions:

We would be doing these in 2.5" tube, would you like to see if we can build them out of 3"?
If we do coat them would you like ceramic or a good powder coated part (black would be about the only options but for a charge we could do custom colors)?
Is there anything else you would like to see made up for the car?

There were some questions on heat soak with the stainless vs mild steel. The amount of heat that the pipe holds is very minimal. Even the rubber stockers will hold some heat and to be honest... the amount of heat is very minimal from one material to the next. The intercooler is going to play a larger part in heat soak than the pipe could ever dream of.

So, let me know what you guys would like to see and we should have some pictures up next week of the current 2.5" pipe kit. These will be ruffed prototype parts and we will do our best to make the new unts single bend operation with no weld together pipes. If not, there should only be one bend in the cold side pipe.

Thanks for the huge response to getting these build, if all goes well we will be taking orders for these in 3 to 4 weeks.

The prototype will be migged (easy and quick) all the finished units (if welds are needed) will be TIG welded. If need be I can get some pictures of our other welds posted up.

I'd like to see a kit like this one I put on our TDI:
http://tdiparts.com/catalog/product_inf ... ts_id=1229

Sounds like yours will be similar.:D

2.5" would be plenty big IMO.

I sure would like to see some pictures. I would like to see the pipes supplied with the tested silicone hose conections and clamps that work best for this application. If they require some kind of coating for longevity or heat purposes, I would defer to the experience of the maker to determine the best coating to accomplish the need. If a color of coating is needed, just a flat black would be fine with me. I am looking for the best fix for this problem that I will not have to worry about again for the life of the vehicle once completed. I've got 48,000 on the stock hoses and need this to come about pretty soon.

I second the boost gauge bung. I would also like a raw uncoated option. That would allow me to save a little up front and allow for flexibility in customizing them to personal taste.

I put SS braid on the Samco upper hose

Looks pretty bulletproof to me...

I think 3" is overkill. I built custom pipes for my turbo drag racer, and it puts 313 hp to the wheels with a 2" intercooler and 2-1/4" pipes. The factory size would be the easiest to fit.

Edit: On my 2.8l Nissan turbo I do have a 3-1/2" custom intake, PRE-TURBO.
