Scott... it looks like everyone that has signed up is still on board!! I have also invited people from another group I belong to, to join us. So far, Dave, from the E.V. 4x4 Group is joining us. I'm also waiting to hear from the guys on the "maybe list" to see if they can make it.

I would prefer the group be limited to just two teams. Any more than that, we could be in trouble for not having a group permit. With just two teams, we could travel a mile or so apart, well within CB range, and be legal. Nothing says we can't meet up when we stop for breaks etc. Also, we'll have to set up two different camps. Again i don't see a problem with everyone getting together to sit around the campfire and visiting. After all, four wheelers are a friendly bunch of people, right!!

JJ... no fair eating before the rest of us!!

Fires and camping....

There are only two developed camp grounds, both south of the trail, on Black Canyon Road. They seem to be at the midway point of the trail. Dispersed camping is allowed anywhere along the trail. However, BLM prefers a fire pan be used (it can even be a garbage can lid). We can build a fire ring for a fire, but all ashes and rocks should be cleaned up before departing the area. BLM's goal of "leave no trace" takes it a couple of notches above "tread lightly".

Vern has suggested everyone bring a bag of wood to contribute for a camp fire centrally located we can all sit around.

Mike / Vern... we'll need the AZ LOST Jeep's "Hold Harmless" forms for everyone to sign.

Just three more weeks and counting!!

Yahoo!!

Yea AJ as it stands now I think we just got the one team though so we should be alright. I know my count has dropped to +1 for now and it might just drop to being me, but time will tell as we get closer.

Scott... looks like you'll be leading Team 2, if you still want the job. Preston, from the E.V 4x4 Group that I've made a couple of trips with, just signed on. He drives a red JK Rubicon Unlimited, and will join the Expedition at Exit 221, Afton Canyon Road. He's driving down from Las Vegas Saturday morning, so there's no need for him to drive all the way down to Barstow.

Hopefully the guys on the "maybe" list will sign on for sure very soon..

15 days and counting!!

AJ

Team 1:

1. AZKJ +1
2. Signcutter21 +1
3. Oldhockeyvb +
4. 2006KJSPORT4x4 +2
5. JJsKJ + 1
6. KE7NEG +1

Team 2:

1. Preston +1
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

Maybe:

- CMax26az +1
- Neatus + 2

I made fun of that awning when I first saw it, but now I'm thinking that was a bad move. Sorta like the time I hiked to the bottom of the grand canyon with some friends. One guy strapped a lawn chair to his backpack and we all made mercilous fun of him until we were camping at the bottom. Then we all wanted that chair!

I heard from a coworker that in Cal. your offroad lights need covers on them. Can anyone verify this? I wouldn't want CHP stopping me for that.

Dave... post this question over on So-Cal LOST forum. I'm sure JJsKJ or someone will chime in.

Did you get my message that we won't be leaving PHX till 1700 on the 22nd?

AJ

I have spent a couple months in Southern Cal. (San Diego Area) (Palm Springs Area) never got looked at twice for lights with no covers. I have 2 in the front, one in the back. I have heard people speak of that law. I would suppose it falls into that category, it's not a problem untill they want a reason to stop you.

It isn't enforced that is for sure, I have teh two on the rear of my roof basket and have never heard anyone say anyhting about when driving through...If you don't have a CA plate, they may not even care I would imagine since your rig may be setup legally for the state it is registered in. Then again I say that on the premise that you aren't a resident of RCA.

Yeah JJ, looks like great weather. Nice and cool for sleeping too.

Mike, Vern, Scott... I know you guys bought the Mojave Road Guide Book. I hope you've been reading up on the trail. Since we're doing it in reverse, I may need some help with route finding.

10 days and counting!! :D

Eight days and counting!!! Can you tell I'm excited?? I loaded up the Jeep this morning to see how everything will fit, bought some munchies and also copied Vern's idea for a trail mix snack.

Here's the back end of the Jeep minus chairs, pillows and blankets. What you don't see are 6 frozen gallons of water and an extra 6 gallons behind the drivers seat. Also hidden in there are two 4 gallon Geri tanks of gas (I've been leak checking them the last two days... no leaks or fumes), tools, an extra fan belt, fluids, air compressor and other camping gear we bought for this trip.

We're taking a Subway sandwich for lunch on the trail Saturday. For dinner it's going to be marinated ribeye steaks with potatoes and cucumber salad. Breakfast Sunday morning will be cinnamon rolls and for lunch... ham and cheese sandwiches, pickles and chips.

I think I have everything covered!! Did I mention, EIGHT days and counting??

Not sure if anyone else thought of it, but you might want to invest in a 2nd air filter perhaps. With all the dust that will be kicked up by us and if your not the leader, you are bound and determined to get a filthy looking air filter. Just a thought...and what Aj said....8 DAYS AND COUNTING!!!!

Scott... good idea, thanks for the reminder. I have a slightly used air filter I'll toss in my box.
