OK so yesterday I had to go on a little road trip from Tallahassee to Gainesville. The trip is about 150 miles each way. So since I got the JET chip I figured this would be a good time to see how my MPG is doing.

Here is a list of the changes I have made

K&N 63 Series Intake
Magnaflow Exhaust
JET Stage 2 Chip
E3 Spark Plugs
93 Octane Gas

Now I thought my MPG would be down in the 18 MPG range ... WELL to my surprise once I got on the Highway and set cruise control I was able to average 20.7 MPG the whole trip!!! I hit "reset" a few times just to make sure it was accurate and it was. I was able to hit a peak of 21.3 MPG ... WOW!!!
I had cruise control set to 80 MPH ...
The lowest I hit was 19.5 but that was going up a very steep hill. I was able to hit a constant 21.3 for about a 3 miles stretch of very straight and very flay highway road.

Before the JET chip and using 87 octane I was able to average right at 20 MPG for that same trip (I make that trip very often).

i guess typically when people change the ECM or add chips and expect lower MPG's that is only till the fun of the extra power is gone... then you get used to not having your foot in it so much and your MPG's go up... i am expecting to AVG around 30 on the highway soon

Dear Mike,

Did you see 20 MPG before the changes to intake and exhuast?

That is great to see you can get 21.3. I hope that keep going that way.

many things will influence mpg. whats important here is that he gained 1 mpg compared to what he was getting before so if you get 22 stock you might get 23 with the jet chip

Swap out those E3's and you'll do better, plus those instant mpg stuff is always inaccurate.

Coming home from MOAB '08 my fully outfitted KJ(sitting at 5500lbs,about 5800lbs with me and all my stuff) averaged just shy of 22mpg's at 75mph going from MOAB to Colorado Springs that has you going up some steep, long climbs.I have the JET stageII chip, run premium gas,and use Autolite platinum's in the basically same 3.7 V-6 and my speedo is calibrated verified by GPS.

i'm getting 16 at best on the highway.. and 16 at best around town as well.. i really need to re-gear (all my figures are from the odo. divided by gallons of gas so i know it's true :)) my speed-o is exactly the same as my GPS.. and i didnt calibrate it at all?

21mpg is pretty darn good for a heavier KK.. stock i got about 22 with my KJ

My Diesel computer says 24+MPG but hand calculated is 20MPG. Chips mess up the computer so you MUST hand calculate to get the correct MPG's. Never trust the computer MPG's.
