Is the front tow hook mounting pattern for the OEM hooks the same for the rear?

ie can you mount the fronts onto the rear without alot of drilling?

Or is it better to just get a hitch and add on hitch point mount?

They are different. If you dont need a hitch just get a hook. I found a take off one for like $20 with shipping. Rears are easy to find but fronts are a different story. The JPARTS site you were talking about before seems to have the best price for new.

LabMan,
where did you get your rear tow hook, do you have a link??? i just got out of being stuck in the mud...and i think a $20.00 hook could have saved me from a $300.00 recovery bill...

I just searched Ebay for "Jeep liberty tow hook". Alot of people sell them after installing the rear hitch. I went to the hardware store and picked up a few grade 8 bolts and put it on in a few minutes...very easy. Now I need the fronts.

So i can use just any old tow hook for the rear???? I know the fronts need specific brackets and bolts, but the rear is just a standard tow hook??? If i got to get one at say Napa or Pepboys, what should i look for???
