Doubtful, it may even use the same mounting points of the factory receiver, which are what hold my fuel tank skid in place.

Sorry for off topic but........

So you would buy a Toyota or Honda made in America, right? If not why? If a Chevy is made in China, would you buy it? It is American owned. What if most of your parts are made in another country but assembled in America or vice versa? You may respond by PMing. I like debates in this area.

Would the front bumper be made to accomidate the factory fogs turn signals, and winch? And would we still have to cut the fenders with these bumpers or not. How about a package deal for front and rear?

If you opt to mount your spare in the factory location then you can use a simple license plate mount like on an XJ (off to one side with the light above). If you get the spare tire carrier and/or jerry can mount then perhaps you can use the center recessed location of the bumper where the stock tire would rest/sit. Just a couple of options... there are plenty.

I like the fact that the swingaway gets the spare mount off of the rear gate. Is it possible that w/the swingaway the spare would still sit centered in the cutout (preferrable) or would it have to be off to one side like the pic? (maybe have the arm on the swingaway adjustable right to left?)

Looks great. I am interested but finished product and final price will be my deciding factor? This may have been addressed previously but I don't want to look through 16 pages worth of info - will the bumper be tig welded? What points will you be utilizing for the hitch? Thank you for your time and effort.

Not to be a butthead, but ALOT of the posts in this thread have been addressed in the last thread, not just to pick on you Sundvl but if anyone is thinking this way as well, you really do need to read it! Repeating information not only takes up space, but, takes away from build time for rock lizard to reiterate what's already been addressed. And I want this bumper ASAP! So take the time to read it, so we don't hafta make ANOTHER thread and repeat this process. Thanks!

We need to make a locked thread with info only. 1 week and we are already at 4 pages again. I'll work on compiling it tomorrow if possible.

I was actually waiting for Rocklizard to post one in the vendor section complete with pics, info and such. I will lock it once he does and only let him update it as necessary.

My plan was to post it here and lock it. It's a bit more visible that way. It can go in the vendors section once it's an actaul product. Make sense?

I'll probably do the Vendor page when I figure out more info like pricing and what not. I am finishing up the design plans this weekend on the rear bumper enough for my manufacturer to figure up my costs, which should take about a week, so maybe by next weekend I will have a much better idea on retail price of the rear bumper.

I like my KJ's Butt, but I applaud you for your work. I will wait for your work on the face lift. I have a winch just waiting for a home on my KJ's face.

Will the tire carrier be strong enough to maybe survive without killing the tailgate if you accidentally rest your KJ's rear on the spare tire?

Also, could you put the license plate on the gerry can container, or you could put it on a smaller swing arm so that it covers the lower part of the spare just above the bumber and it swings out when you pull a pin or something.
It could also be on a slider and be flexible with springs to hold it up so that when you pull the tire off it just folds down and when you put the tire on it might push it back, but you just slide it away from the vehicle until it pops up and then slide it back against the tire. (although, those are probably too expensive to implement or on the wrong side (I know you wanted the spare on the drivers side))

Isn't the front bumber going to be just a hitch bumber with no winch but is lightweight?

I am really looking forward to seeing your bumber. I don't know my outlook for buying one, that is mostly dependant on whether or not I have my old job this summer and scholarship (and whether or not I get my locker and rock sliders installed finally).

The tire carrier is not attached to the tailgate so it shouldn't damage the tailgater unless the bumper bends into the tailgat for some reason. The front bumper will have a reciever hitch which will allow mounting of a winch cradle to the front end. Not having a winch up front permantly cuts down on weight (better handling, easier on suspension components). It also helps the winch last longer (no road grime/salt/sand in the winch bears, etc).

I was mostly wondering about the joint that the swing away carrier will have, if it will be strong enough to support the back half of a KJ or if it might just snap off letting the whole assemble get shoved into the tailgate.

I am mostly wondering this because I really dislike taking off my tire from the back during runs (mostly because I am afraid I might not think of it and it is awkward to just let fly around in the back).

Sorry for reasking my question ManicMechanicJoe, but I feel from your response I did not state what I was asking for clearly, so I am trying again.
