Anybody else have a squeeky passenger seat?

Any time I have a passenger in there (or myself trying not to passenger seat drive as the wife drives)... it squeeks like a basterd!

Remember trying to "play with taco" in the parents house and the bed... ahem table squeeked? That's what this sounds like.

Anyone? (yeah yeah yeah - to all those, it's a jeep - get used to it people.... bugger off, I know I didn't buy a porsche)

Check the bolts/ nuts that are used to secure it to the body.... I think some one had the same problem and said that the nuts were loose

I would go with loose bolt or loose plastic piece rumbing.

Isn't there a TSB for this problem as well? I'll try to find it

Thanks everyone - I'll check all of those bolts out later tonight and see if that helps at all.

Chava - there IS a TSB for "scrapping/clicking/squealing when driving around corners/stopping going/adjusting seat. Here: http://gravediggerfreek.googlepages.com/ScrapingClickingOrSquealSoundFromSea.pdf (again, digger comes through) But I'm not sure that's really what I'm hearing... I'll check it out though.

Thanks all - I'll get back to you when I check things out.

I had them do that TSB on my liberty cause I was getting a clicking and squeaky sounds when a passenger would exit the vehicle. It didn't matter the weight either anybody leaving or entering the passenger side would make it squeak. Have not heard those noises in a while so I guessed it worked.

Spray the seat tracks with Silicon spray or a Lanolin based spray. The squeak will disappear and never return.

WWEELLLLLLL...

I checked the bolts today... There were two loose bolts holding the seat down (two front of the seat). Actually, the front left was quite loose.

I'll let everyone know if it works next time I'm driving around, but I did sit in it, and jiggled my fat arse around.... no squeak anymore!

FYI - They're 18mm bolts up in Canada.

Do the American KKs use metric nuts/bolts too?

No, US market vehicles all use ASE fasteners. Vehicles built for everywhere else in the world are put together using metric hardware.

Makes it a real PITA when you don't realize that it's a CHRYSLER Intrepid until 20 minutes into figuring out why your ASE tools don't work.

ThunderbirdJunkie, that's odd, as everything I've found so far on my KK is metric. 99% of the fasteners on my '95 Trans Am are metric too. Was Jeep/DCX slow getting everything to metric?

BrendonR, hope you've resolved your squeaking seat issues.

98% of the bolts on the KK are metric. And to go one step further they are almost all 10.9's.....

They say there are ways of getting rid of the Whining from the KK passenger seat. Just make it look like an accident.

Well I rode in the seat today - and being much heavier than my fiance, I can certainly tell everyone.....

The squeak is GONE (not that anybody cares at the moment).

If anybody's got seat squeaking issues in the future - check all the mounting bolts first. It's the easiest fix, and would certainly apply to somebody else too.
