Floor jack

Ok looking to get floor jack and jack stands, and was wondering what brand, capacity and lifting height people have for lifting the KJ?

Would a 3 ton jack lifting to 19.37in work for lifting a KJ with a Rusty's 2.5 in lift?

The stats on the jack you mentioned should work.

I have two "Michelin" Jack stands....2.5 ton....and can can lift to 22"...works great cost me $35 at the local automotive/home supply store. On sale...normal $55 :wink:

My jack and stands are in that thread. Ive got the 6ton craftsman jack stands and the 2 ton aluminium jack from craftsman also. The jack is $200, and the stands are around $40 for a set of 2 i think. I have 4 of them now. Very nice.

Jack works very good with my ome lift, its only 2in though.

At least on the rear having a lift makes no difference on the height of the axle from the ground....unless you've added in some oversize tires. The stock SR-A tires are 29.5" diameter. You go to a 31" tire and your jacking point on the rear axle is only 0.75" higher off the ground. The front is a little more complicated, but not much different. I am not lifted so if you want to throw my opinion out the window you can, but I'm just applying some logic.

I have a craftsman steel 3 ton jack, 2 adjustable height 3 ton stands. I haven't used the stands yet, but the jack is great. Got the jack, stands, and a creeper as a set for $100 during the after christmas sales.

Well, after my lift i have 8in of ground clearance. Not near as much as some people but i kept my stock tires for now. My jack goes up to 18.5 in, so i can lift my jeep around 10.5in. Enough for me to get under it.

to be SAFE I'd go with the 3 ton,don't forget the KJ wieghs around 4,500 pounds maybe alittle more depending what you've put on it ,I have a 2 ton & makes me alittle nervous using it I will be getting a heavier one soon

I never pick up the entire jeep at once, but i can see what your getting at. I have 4 6 ton floor jacks, so i can hold up 24tons, I think i over did it enough on the jack stands to make up for the floor jack? lol jk.

Here is the jack I use on lifted VWs. I can lift the whole car off the ground form is center of gravity. Most jacks lift to 20" this one goes to 31. Good for lifts and large tires.

Hey there Jeepjeepster I think you might be wrong on your math there.ie..Your 4x6 ton jack stand computation.Just b/c you have 4 doesn't mean they increase in their strength,their still only rated at 6ton each.

Im saying if I use all 4 at once putting 6 tons on each jack stand. 4x6=24tons.

Get a wide body Jack, something with a large pad. Sears usually has one with 2 jack stands for around $100. Any of the skinny Jacks are dangerous. If you are going to be in the habit of crawling under the Jeep I would invest in some ramps, way safer than Jack stands.

I got these jack stands at Sam's Club.. A pair of them was like $25.. I got 2 sets because of the work I was doing on the axle swap for my YJ.. I picked up the 3 ton SUV floor jack from Sears.. It was onsale... I would post a pic of that.. But it is buried under boxes at this moment... I hate moving...

I have a Craftsman floor jack rated at 3 tons I got from my dad. He had it for 15 years and used it mainly for his trucks (fullsize pickups/suburbans). He used it pretty regularly and it has yet to give us trouble. With tools you get what you pay for...
