You should just go ahead and do a SFA swap.

How much did you pay for the "upgrade"? I have had mine for just about as long as you and been watching them closely I want to get the new and "improved" because it is worrying me but frankly I feel I shouldn't have to pay even more money to get them.

it was a slight dip in the road, thats what i dont understand, it was so minor, i'm not slamming anyone by the way, i understand these parts are'nt made to last. was just wondering if it had happened to anyone else. kina scared me a bit, the birthday was a smash, 6 million little rugrats running arond and tearing up my house, thanks for the comments, i'll be ordering a new set tommorrow.

What appears to be rust on the fracture surface (the photo is a tad blurry, so it's difficult to tell) would indicate that, that puppy had been cracking for a while. The slight dip in the road was just enough to push it over the edge, apparently.

How many near misses with these arms are we all willing to accept?

i paid the normal trade in price, i'm not going to make a stink over this especially when i still have my life and a vehicle that is not damaged, dont get me wrong, i still would like a better price for those bars failing but it's done with now, the more i look at those welds i notice there was only one small spot that was shiny metal, the rest was a rust color.

You're a better man than I... I would have FREAKED OUT!!!
To me that is just not acceptable... If I was selling a product and it broke under normal driving conditions... I would replace it free of charge...

Yea!!, that should be a free set off arm's!! I agree with Chris that scar's the doo doo out of me!!, especially with the family in the jeep at the time it break's !! I have been a little learly of buying aftermarket control arm's thinking somthing like this could happen! Lately this seem's to be happening alot !!!!!, anyone with aftermarket arm's should be inspecting them and watching for cracks or rust around the weld's !!! :x :x :x

I've heard of here just as many OEM UCA failures as JBA failures,no difference there so running OEM or aftermarket you are taking the same risk just with JBA's you can grease and more likely get back into OEM alignment specs when lifted.

Chrysler has a lot more insurance than JBA. If I hurt myself or others, there's a much longer chain of responsibility attached to the OEM part. If fact, if it was an after market part that I installed, I'm not insulated from responsibility at all.

The fact that JBA is not covering this sort of breakage with a free exchange has ThunderbirdJunkie questioning the purchase of a pair, and instead going the route of RRO's arms.

Not joking, and hate to say it.

RRO, definitely worth a look.

I'm curious what their testing is. On and off road testing? Or in shop on a test rig? Those definitely should have a lifetime of full capacity cycles put on them on a test rig in my opinion. Anything in the steering / braking systems should, IMO...

If he's got known breakage problems on certain generations, then they should definitely be voluntarily recalling the suspect arms with the new ones.

Agreed. The NHTSA would be over any OEM manufacturer's ARSE if something like this happened.

Aftermarket or not, you expect the components you install to be safe...while the OEM upper ball joints are junk, at least they give symptoms before they give up the ghost.

ThunderbirdJunkie would expect the $50/ea arms sitting on his toolbox to last longer than that, mileage-wise...and they carry a TWO YEAR UNCONDITIONAL WARRANTY, bushings and all...

If JBA is not offering a lifetime warranty on his arms, ThunderbirdJunkie does not care, he will continue happily buying cast UCAs that need to be replaced every 100,000 miles.
