recently my wife jeep died...turned out to be air in the lines. bleed the lines got it running..on the way home it died again..same problem same solution..

what I did..
I installed an aftermarket diesel fuel pump. from advance auto parts. this was placed right near the fuel filter head. I know not the best place. next is to move to the flex line to rigid line just outside the fuel tank. no time for that this weekend.

ok now the issues
1. the display that would show 'glass door' reads gas cap..every now and then
2. the electronic throttle light blinks at random.
3. CEL blink at random but with less freq. than #2
4. water in fuel light..not on just blinks.

I used an Cen-Tech scanner #98614 to read the codes and clear the codes. there was also a U0112 abs controller error..I think..this is gone for the moment.

I'm thinking the new pump might be causing electrical noise. I tapped the fuel prime relay for the pump power. interesting that it has the fuse and relay for fuel priming but a manual pump??

any other thoughts?

Thanks

-dkenny

Does fuel pump run ~20secs after the key is switched ON?

the pump runs while the engine is running and for about 10 seconds after the engine is turned off.

other than the strange things happening my wife it runs fine.

The pump shouldn't run after turning the engine off if it's in the right terminal. Key the engine on, but don't crank it. You should hear the pump run for about 20 seconds and then stop. If you crank it it will stay running.

it in the prime pump relay pin the driver side towards the rear. should it be in a different pin. I want the pump to run while the jeep is running, not just cranking.

is there a better place to tap 12v while the ignition is on? ideally under the hood since getting a wire from inside is almost impossible.

Thanks

I believe it's termial number 5 in the middle of relay.

If you get the right pin it will be on when the jeep is running. Sorry, that is what I meant. I copied blacklibertycrd's install back in the day, I don't remember the exact pin other than it was in the middle.
