I'm about to do the cat filter mod and I was wondering if the 2 microns filter was clogging in real cold weather (-20 deg F)? Would I be better using a 10 microns filter in order to avoid clogging when the fuel is gelling? Has anyone experienced one in cold weather?

Thanks.

Use winter fuel in the winter and it shouldn't gel. I heard there is problem with the cat 2 microns filter pulling air from the fuel and trashing the CP3 pump.

I've had the CAT 2 through 2 winters now. Coldest mine got this year was -18 F without being plugged in. I'm sure the #2 was like syrup even w/ Powerservice in the tank but still started up fine.

I think the air problem is coming from the installation of the adapter. If people don't change the o-ring in the fuel head before reassembling, it will do that. In the worst case, I could use a 10 microns filter if the 2 microns is too restrictive.

most of the CAT filter changes came before people understood how much the stock head could leak air from the heater plug
so if you had a problem with the head leaking - the CAT made it worse - if your filter head was good - the CAT filter worked fine.

the real problem with the CAT was that it was a bright yellow flag to dealers that there was something non-stock on the engine
most were under warranty - and the dealerships didn't know how to troubleshoot - so the CAT got blamed.
