Luckily it wasn't mine...

I got home from a Jeep "Dirt and Show" event and my brother called me. He took his fiance's three kids out wheeling and put his jeep on its side on a steep hill not too far from my house. He said he was going up the hill and the jeep stalled. He couldn't get it started again mid hill, near the top really and so decided he had to back down. He had no power in the steering and brakes so coming down he got squirly and rolled it onto its driver side. I jumped in the jeep since I live 5 minutes away and headed over. I tried a few times to roll him back over with my tow strap from his frame, but it didn't even budge. So then we tried my old man's Super Duty. He strapped to it and it only budged maybe 3 inches. The dirt was way too soft and loose and we had to right it going uphill which is a nightmare. I had the idea to take my Hi Lift Mate and using a small D-Shackle to connect the end around the roll cage, jack the jeep up as the Super Duty pulled and got it right side up. Worked perfectly. We checked the plugs, cleaned 2, the rest were dry, and let it sit for 20 minutes. Started right up and smoked all the way to our warehouse where it sits now.

His windshield is trashed and the frame around the windshied is pretty shot as well. Huge bulge in the body panel where the windshield pushed down and buckled it out. Nice dents in front fender and hood too. No one was hurt, which is really lucky because my brother told me on the ride up, the 2 kids in the back had their arms wrapped around the roll bars. Luckily they didn't during the tip.

I'll try and get pics of the damage tomorrow. Just goes to show you never know what can happen and you can never be too careful. Always wheel safe and prepared.

Ouch. That was definitely not a fun ride. Glad everybody came out okay.

Definitely glad everyone made it out alright without injury. I hope no on is too traumatized. That injury can be as tough as anything physical.

No worries.

My brother thought the 3 kids would have been terrified and scared but they said it was the best "roller coaster" ride they had been on. \

Aren't kids wonderful!?!
I'll bet they'll be telling the tale over and over for the next few years to their friends...
and they'll probably be 'legendary' to all their friends.

So glad no one was hurt. The machine can be fixed. People are what counts.

I know this is a serious matter but still those kids must have been screaming Again! Again! Again! Again!

A friend of mine rolled his TJ on a familiar trail and was lucky enough not to suffer any serious damage at all.

Hey, it got him on the club's calendar :D

All that mud would have been nice actually. My brother rolled in soft sandy dirt and rocks in the desert. :?
