Long ago and far away, in another century and other places, when you saw an oem turbo muffler it was non-reversing - then there were steel-pak cherry bombs and such which were quiet for a few miles, till the steel-wool pot-scrubber packing rusted out and the resultant volume would easily get you a ticket - appeared the revolutionary "glass-paks" with fiberglas wool packing, lasted much longer, usually well past when the cheap expanded-pipe muffler was rusting out - that was pre-turbo days B4 avg 650*F EGT's, which would quickly eat steel and fiberglas wool - my choice for the best mufflers for most any street vehicle were the Chevy Corvair turbo mufflers, which could be had in 2-2.250", and are still available aftermarket with up to 3"dia inlet\outlet from JEG's and Summit and JCWhitney, etc
