I paid $351 including shipping for my Magnaflow stainless catback system (15870) from Wide Open Speed on their Ebay store.

That's well within your $400 window.

Very easy install. just remember to bend the rear hanger down slightly so the tip does not touch the botton of the bumper cover. (It's almost impossible after it's all installed.)

I had a $75 Magnaflow welded in for $20 at a muffler shop some years ago. The engine was slightly louder. That's about it. I do get all warm and fuzzy when I think about the 1/4 inch I took out of the exhaust system. :roll:

Seriously, if you want to see a difference buy a chip or program.

do you have pics of it before you installed it? I'm interested to see how it looks compared to the MBRP.

I did, that's one reason I want to change the exhaust - check my sig line.

Mine is an '05. Just make sure you order the right model. I can't remember if the '06 uses the other part#.

BTW, there is no model specifically for the CRD, but the one I got fits our '05 perfectly with a slight tweak to the rear hanger.

This would be the time to "clean" your CAT if you want to. (We did it help EGTs because we tow close to 5000 lbs.)

Sorry, no photos of install, but if the MBRP is not stainless it does not make sense to me.

Noise is no different than stock inside with windows up. Slightly louder outside.

BTW, this may not seem the cheapest way to go, but in the longer run, it may be.

There is no need to cut the OEM to remove it as someone indicated somewhere, so just store it.

When it comes time time to sell your CRD, there is huge market for these systems because they fit ALL KJs.

Put the OEM back on and you should be able to get $200-$250 for the Magnaflow stainless, used.

Thanks again. The P/N 15870 is for the 2006 as well, according to Magnaflow's site. I made Wide Open an offer, waiting to hear back from them. Their "Buy it Now" price is $475.28, a bit more than I am looking to spend.

Not all KJ exhaust systems are the same. Do the early models with the resonator and little cats have a flange in front of the muffler in the same place as the newer ones?

My exhaust has a cat about the size of a small coffee can, then there is a flange in the pipe about 2 to 4" before the muffler. Not too sure on lengths, it has been a while since I was under there. But 15870 will fit my CRD.
