Ok so I noticed this crazy noise today as im driving down the road and its just CLUNK BANG CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK BANG and its like all the time that im driving and it sounds like it coming from everywhere underneath the jeep and I dont kno if it could be my springs like cracking down and finally killing over or if its my axles. Anyone expereince this?

Just some info on the past couple of days before the noise:
I drove on my spare tire which is only like a 1/2in smaller than my other tires at 80MPH on the highway for 2 hrs.
Plus after a day of 3hr wheeling.

Any thoughts?

well dude, for 1 thing driving on your smaller spare at 80MPH for 2 hours then 4 wheeling with it can cause alot of drive line damage. you have 1 tire spinning at a diffreant speed and more rpm's then the other 3.

You can cause Tranny damage, diff damage and god knows what else. I am sure you might have blowen out a drive shaft or cv joint. (FOR YOUR SAKE AND POCKET) You put alot of stress on your drive line

which tire location was the spare placed on?

if it was the front and the front is not locked, it would be quite a bit less likely to have been a culprit of driveline damage than say if it was on the rear with an LSD or locker

initial suggestion would be to go out and put it back in 4-hi on loose gravel or dirt, drive forward a few feet, and take it out of 4-hi and drive backwards a few feet to make sure everything has disengaged after inspecting all of your CV's for damage and wear

and any other possible obstructions that may be lodged in or around your driveline

Sorry I typed it wrong. I ment to say I wheeled for 3hrs first with my actual tire and then I blew it causing me to change to the spare. Which then I drove on it 80 2 days later. Sorry I'm changing my story, I'm just putting out the details. But how can I tell if I like messed up my driveline and whatnot? Should I just take it into the shop?

if you have a shop near by that does FREE inspections then it won't hurt

make sure the 4wd system is disengaged completely , it will clunk and bang if it doesn't completely disengage

visually check your cv boots for tears and obvious breakages for instance a CV that has play in it (not in a twisting motion) but for instance, if you put your hand on it and push it shouldn't just give way and move around

without even jacking the vehicle up you can grab the top of the tire and shake the vehicle or bounce the bumper up and down to check for suspension noise like a loose shock

beyond that you get into more technical tests and if you aren't really interested in doing certain things yourself (time or motivation wise) and you have a local shop with free inspection i'd take it there

does this clunk bang have a rhythm to it? or occur steadily and increase with speed or seem to randomly occur or occur when hitting bumps?

even with 4wd engaged a tire of that size difference up front wouldn't have damaged anything

start off by making sure it's disengaged and visually inspecting everything for mud lodged in and around the CV's and front and rear driveshafts, bent skid plates and torn boots

4WD is completely off. And it is just like all at random, sometimes ill go around a turn and it will do it and other times it won't, and then ill hear it one min for 5 min and ill stop and then start and the sound will stop. And there are sometimes where its really loud

TBJ makes a good point. I'm guessing checking them after 50 miles doesn't happen in a high percentage of tire changes that people do / have done.
