Well this is looking like a common problem :x The clutch on my ac pump is shot...I get a wonderful grinding noise everywhere I go.. The question is I would like to keep driving it until I replace the compressor but I can't figure out a serp belt to buy to bypass the compressor. Does any one know or have a part number for a serp belt that will bypass the compressor ??? every thing I look at shows only one belt # and doesn't give a with or with out ac option. I drive around 140 miles round trip every day for work and this is my only ride so bypassing it is my only option at this point. Thanks in advance for any help.

Been there, done that.

You'll need a 6 rib, 82.5" belt to bypass the compressor.

do what I did, take the Compressor off line. disconnect the connection ontop of the compressor.
I ran like that for about 2 months before I finally decided to get my hvac tools out and do the job.

Thanks for the info and link jeepfrog.... I got the belt and before I could make it home the compressor pulley completely seized up on me.. so I had to do and emergency repair in a parking lot.

I have my old compressor. It may or may not be bad (long story - I had noise coming from what I thought was the comp. pulley, so I had the compressor replaced. After it was done, mechanic found a shot tensioner pulley making noise as well OR instead of). Anyway, if you want it, just pay me the shipping (remember it's heavy) and like an extra $10 to get it boxed and over to UPS and it's yours!

If you want to buy a new one cheap, check out my otehr thread about replacing it. The company was real cheap and the fit was perfect. Mention LOST and you may get free shipping. ( I told them i would recomend them on the board)
