Towards the later part of the 02 production year Jeep lowered the stock ride height with some shorter springs. 0.75 - 1.0 inches all around. They did this in reaction to some bad publicity after motortrend (?) rolled one in a moderately high speed slalom course. I don't remember the production cutover date, but I'm sure it's on here if you search for it.

Also when they lowered they Liberty, DCX revised the powersteering efforts to make it easier to steer at lower speeds.

there's a sticker on your drivers door it has all kinds of info on it & also your vin# there will be a spot that says "Date Of Mfgr" & under it it will give the build date if it's before april 2002 or 4-02 than you have a pre lowerd KJ,hope this helps :)

well I took a look and the date said 10/01 so it must be pre-lowerd.
I guess this is a good thing?
Thanks again.

It gets you a little bit more height compared to newer, stock KJs. Not really a big deal since you plan on doing a lift anyway.

the big deal is you get a tough 45rfe tranny which they put behind the hemi-if it can handle the hemi...It is the last thing you will need to upgrade on the driveline (we all know what should be first and it starts with a D and ends with a 30a)
