I have been here for a week or 2 asking too many questions in the CRD section but never really introduced myself.

I would like to thank eveyone in the forum so far for makeing me feel welcome. And as of last Friday I traded my frost white 2003 Subaru Outback limited for a deep green 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD in Limited trim. So far I'm loving the touque and loving the jeep more every day I drive her.

Welcome to the world of Jeep...next year you'll have to bring that ride to the PAJeeps show at the York Fairgrounds.

Now how could any one miss a big old Harley-Davidson Plant in their home town? I drive by that several times a week and don't like to be traveling Rt 30 near the plant at shift change, oh man it can back up traffic some. I know a few people that work there and there was talk of it moving which would crush the local job market.

I have been to a Harley open House and plant tour once very cool stuff.

I didn't know about the Jeep show cus I guess I was not up on all the local car, truck, rv and boat shows, and my normal ways of getting around town don't take me near the fairgrounds often that I'd see it or a sign about it. My Dad has a 2002 Grand Cherokee I bet he has never gone to PA jeeps either.

For now the H-D plant is there...corporate says they can make things efficiently enough there so they need to build a whole new plant...maybe here...more likely in a new state that has no union in place.

Yeah I hpoe H-D does not leave. why can't the plant be upgraded? You hint at the union being an issue, I work under a union now also I think its good and bad. If the unions are keeping things fair for both sides its great but when they get too much power and ask for alot you have what happened here with the CAT plant, union running the factory out of town.

So to change to something more fun where can one take their jeep off road? Some place safe for a first timer.

It has been decades since those were made in York...recently they were made in Reading Pa but Hershey moved them to Mexico I believe.

Hershey "the Great American chocolate bar" opps I should have said Mexican. it's all moving to Mexico now.

At least we have some yummy things still made here like:

The Chocolates plant just down the road a bit, I can walk to the factory store and That's Wolfgang's Candy.
http://www.wolfgangcandy.com/homepage.asp

There is Also Stauffers cookie and biscut company in the east end of town. Some of the houses in that neighborhood were built by the company for and sold to employees. That is a yummy smelling place to be near. you can often smell the cookies baking around the Mt. rose ave area and near Memorial hospital. There is a Factory store on 6th Ave too.

Yeah, Wolfgang's is good chocolate...I went to college and was in the same frat as Rob Wolfgang III. I always enjoy taking the kids there for a tour and a trip to the store.
