I'm a member of both, and I'm sure he'll wield his barbs just as well there.
They're a little more relaxed there.

Plus, at midlife, I could more or less eat anything, had a cast-iron stomach. Now, I can't eat much of anything.

The point of punishment is to correct behavior. Doing it in secret does not set an example or correct the behavior of anyone. It makes it a personal action against someone for what may or may not be the stated reasons. As it is a private forum with no expectation of privacy, stating WHY someone was banned is perfectly acceptable as there is no expectation of privacy. Stating the reasons for a ban would serve as a more effective warning to others and may make a ban serve some purpose. Doing it secretly really just plays into the conspiracy theories and accusations of personality conflicts being the root cause no matter what little info is officialy claimed. The forum is obviously a dicatorship ( duh) but it doesn't have to be an oppressive ditatorship.

"if you don't like the rules of this playground, go play somewhere else" is not a very friendly or welcoming message, and is counter to what many here claim this site to be about, or at least what they USED to claim it to have been about.

I am not speaking to the validity of the claims on this particular ban or any other. I am just saying that heavy-handed catch phrases like "if you don't like the rules of this playground, go play somewhere else" actually just reinforce the rampant rumors ( with some documentation) about personality clashes and a long-discussed east-west schism on the board. Disclosure is certainly allowed under the rules of the forum and would probably serve as a good policy in incidents like this.

Just my 2 cents...

The reason I don't post the reasons up on the board is because, frankly the only people it concerns are the admins and the member who stepped out of line. If people have to know, then feel free to PM me. I just don't see plastering why someone got banned in the open forum as a good idea. Suffice it to say he broke the rules. If you are notified by any mod or admin to quit doing something that isn't in accordance with this forum's policies, then you have been warned. If you have not been warned by any admin or mod about your behavior on here then you are not in any threat whatsoever of being banned. Luckily the extreme vast majority of people here on LOST grasp this and have no issue with it. TBJ didn't and he doesn't belong here.
