Well, I'm sure the bolts that come with the kit are more then adequate. RK could face a bit lawsuit if they failed. Of course grade 8 bolts would have been better but I'm sure if they had issues with current bolts they would have addressed it.

They've been there and done that and that's why the RK 7up lift kit is no longer around. They just don't really care and must have extremely good lawyers.

I heard RK was bought out or sold recently and the new owner is a stand up guy. Not sure if it is true, but I know the guy running the show now is named Rick and is supposed to be on top of things.

UPDATE:
Well after some trips off-roading I'm very happy with the kit! It has performed great and got me though areas I couldn't make it through before.

Issues:
1 - some minor rub on the from sway at full lock on a slope. On flat surface there is NO rub but if I'm on a hill I get some rub. My wheels are 16x8 +25 offset so they are set off the hub a little from stock but I'm running a 255/65-16 tire. Which is stock height (29.1") but extra wide (10.2") RK says you can fit a 31x10.5 tire on there with the right offset. I believe this but I would guess-ti-mate that proper offset would be in the +15 range. I'm going to be getting some new shoes and rubber soon so I'll get back on that when that happens.

2 - It seems that the front sway bar is hitting the lower control arm when the suspension drops off a bump. If I go too fast over a speed bump and the front drops over the bump instead of rolling over it you can hear the sway hit the lower control arm.
I've called RK and sent them pics about the issue and the setup of my front suspension. They are going to get back to me to see if maybe I didn't install the fork right or if there is something else to look at. Once I hear back from RK I will post a new update.

Looks like you need some extended bump stops.

Neither for his problems. All he needs is longer swaybar end links which no one makes for a KK.

thanks everyone for the input ... I've been talking with RK and they haven't heard of anyone reporting this issue. I sent them pics of the install and they said everything looks like its in there as it should. I'm going to get at it this weekend and just double and triple check everything.

I'm also going to check the a-arm and see if its hitting the spring.

Now that I think about it a few months back and I did disconnect the front sway and drive around for about 5 min just to see what its like and if I can get more flex out of it. I remember the sway did clang around a little during that little run. Those marks could be from then and Bob could be right about the a-arm and spring.

I'll report back after the weekend.

If you want to know for sure. Paint the offending parts with White paint or Chock or white shoe polish
So if it rubs you can see it.

I am interested to see how the Customer service is now you have an issue... Fromy our post you sound as if you know what you are talking about and should be able to explain what is happening clearly...

I think Bob got it ... I found some evidence of the spring and a-arm hitting each other. I haven't noticed anymore wear on the sway which leads me to believe that is from when I disconnected it and did a test run.

I'm going to email back RK and see what they say ... Bob, any fix for this?

al's a arms will help but might not completly fix the issue. smaller springs like mine will also help but i dont think they will fit the stock strut. stiffer shocks will also help because of the slower rebound makes it less likely to bottom out but still wont completely fix the issue. The real solution to this is limiting straps but nobody makes them for the KK yet so you would have to custom fab them. in my case it happened only once and it was while going on a speed bump way too fast so I dont really care. your setup is probably a lot easier to bottom out than mine because I have all those minor fixes done with my lift

Its not the bad on mine and only really happens when I go over speed bumps too fast. Al's a-arms are on my list of things to do BUT I'm waiting to see what his 4in version 2 kit will be and might just save the pennies and upgade to that. thanks for the help

I ordered the grade 8 bolts and washers through Fastenal. The nylox nuts do not come in grade 8 metric. I was wondering if the ones in the kit are coarse or fine thread. I wanted to ensure I can upgrade these bolts before I buy the kit.

Grade 8 is a SAE rating,IE not metric.Metric bolts are graded different as in 8.8(equals SAE grade 5) and 10.9(equals SAE grade 8).

I requested the higher grade equivalent but I will call tomorrow and ensure that they ordered the correct ones. Thanks for the help.

I double checked and they did order the 10.9 metric 14mm x 120mm. They should be in tomorrow.

Does anyone have an answer on the coarse or fine thread question?

Thanks.

Kev

Hi Mike08 - It's been awhile, and I was just curious if you ever had your noise issue fixed up?

I'm looking at lifts A.T.M. attempting to set the budget, and wanted to know if the RK is still holding up to the abuse?

Where'd you order from/how much (if you don't mind)?

Thanks
Brendon.
