Are you running a triangulated 4 link, where the upper arm are centered at the body instead of the axle, with a rear track bar? Hard to tell but I think that is what I see.

Just the regular TJ long arm five link with trackbar.

I'm not retaining the 8.25 so the "hard part" is long from over.

Finished up the driver side unibody stiffeners/mounts and about done with the passenger side. Just some pictures of how the crush sleeves work and the final install of the driver side. All of the crush sleeves sit flush with the outside of the unibody, just a few aren't pushed in completely in the pictures to show what they are. Once the passenger side is done, we can throw the axle under it and get the driveshafts and exhaust done. Belly pan will be last so we can atleast get this thing mobile.

Interesting. That seam where the inner wall of the stiffener and the outer wall with the "s" curve meet at the bottom and are bolted together then and not welded? That is a mother load of bolts. The crush sleeves aren't welded in I am guessing, right?

My belly pan is also going to be very very last as well. Need to see where the exhaust is going to run out back before we finish the design of it. The exhaust up front right below the cat on the driver side and the the pipe in the rear right after the merge into one single are where we had clearance issues.

Nice work, looking good and getting there.

Nope no welding to the unibody at all since this is the prototype for a "bolt on" kit.

I meant the 2 pieces in the 3rd pic down, those two pieces will be bolted together and not welded?

The crush sleeves don't really need t be welded to work, but I think welding is just extra insurance that I would do if it was my jeep is all.

Yes, completely bolted, even where the two pieces meet. The way all of the bolts are setup, welding isn't going to be necessary, but as Troy and I have talked, if you have the means to weld, then there is nothing saying you can't weld any of it if you want. The kit is designed so if you can't weld, you won't need to, and it is a less permanent setup, so if for any reason you need to replace anything, you only have to remove certain pieces without hacking up the jeep to cut any welds off. If you change trannies or motors for example, replace just the crossmember or the engine mounts, leave the rest alone. Or, if someone decided they wanted a four link like yours instead of the five link, they leave off the rear trackbar mount and get different inner plates for the upper control arm mounting. If someone goes with stock width axles, they will need a different unibody trackbar mount. Going to be a pretty universal bolt on kit. The other thing I have been designing into this thing is my unibody stiffener/belly pan setup for IFS KJ's, so all of the holes and mounting to the unibody will be exactly the same, so if someone wants to swap to SFA later, they just bolt up the different pieces. My IFS "Tortoise" skid setup will be much higher clearance than this, but will be very similar with replacement crossmember, belly pan and stiffeners, just without the mounts for control arms. Kind of hard to explain it until it is done, but it gives the basic idea what I am designing off of.

Everything makes perfect sense. Sounds great. A bolt on kit is and will be really great for a lot of people. Image
