I wanna take the ring out if it has it...also my cummins had a bunch of sound deadening baffles in the intake, does the libby?

I have a Cummins too. I have never heard of such a thing. Where is this "Ring" located?
I wonder if it has another purpose in life and goes by a different name.

I've heard of it, but I don't have a clue as to where it is or what it looks like

There are several different styles of turbo silencers and resonators, however the KJ CRD does not have one installed from the factory and there is no baffling in the intake either.

The resonators are usually tuned for a specific frequency to dampen the turbo "whine". This is typically done to reduce airborne noise and does not impact performance. Resonators are very common on high end diesel products like the BMW, VW and Mercedes. The newest Jeep products for the European market are also using a resonator.

No such thing on the libby. Some turbo whine would be cool but the turbo is too small.

I think that that is call a resonator and the CRD do not have it. now the Sprinter van do have it.

It is an Aluminum funnel shapped ring which encircles the compressor mouth on Holset turbos. There is a definite increase in the whine heard from the compressor when it is removed, but I put mine back in because I figured that the harmonics might bad for the vanes.

Turbo siencer ring

Dodge is about the only application that you'll find the ring in the turbo. Most 24V medium duty trucks don't have it.
