 Post subject: Struts Shocks Springs without lift

I can't really afford to go with the Franken 2 lift and don't wan'tmore than 1.5 inches of lift, is there something worth it or should I suffer and save my money?

I went with the OME stuff ... I think less than $900.00 ... and love it. Give just aboput 2" and a better ride.

Thats what I want, but I thought I'd see what the cost was on decent stuff at standard height.
Seems that the heavier CRD means I don't really have any options that would last a reasonable period of time.?

when you say better ride, does that mean a smoother street ride? Or a better off road ride? I'm looking for a better street ride, and the compliments of better asthetics. I don't do any off roading.

I installed a set of Koni Adjustable shocks and my on road ride improved drasticly. I got them through Tire Rack.

You are out of luck, for the CRD there is no other lift (imo) then the OME one.

You could just get the springs and use the stock shocks, that way you are looking at $300...

Beware of the OME shocks...way to mushy. I think they are not valved right for our CRD's.

Use KONI front shocks if you are thinking of changing them...they may cost a bit more..but they are worth it 100%.

My OME struts work very well with the OME790 springs -
much better than the Rancho - Daystar stock springs I had

(Haven't tried Koni's)

If I go with the Frankenlift that is unassembled for $804.08 how much could I expect a shop to put them in for me, with alignment etc...?

Can you buy complete struts with a taller spring preinstalled? Then add a spacer to bring up the rear. The idea is that you can tell your wife gee they came that way you say "I didn't buy a lift kit!, honest.

I just want to make sure I am understanding our situation with the suspension!

Because of the extra weight of the CRD after market springs are limited to OME.

Even with all the exports there still isn't any other option?

or

Stock springs from Jeep.

Anyone know what those would run?

For shocks there is acouple options but again limited due to the weight and small demand: OME, Koni, etc...

Could these shocks be used at both factory height or 2" lifted?

Bilstein makes a nice product for normal ride height. I have the rears installed and they seem in line with the tech who told me they engineered them to be 20% stiffer than stock in both bump and rebound. I have not had a chance to install the fronts, yet. They are quite a lot cheaper than Konis and come with a lifetime warranty. An Ebay seller has a full (new) set for $300.
