Pulled P0501

well a few months ago I had the abs light come on and lost the odo, checked on the forum and said it is normally the rear sensor in the diff... checked it the wires were broken at the connector. got a new connector and wired it back on, FIXed.
few months later, ABS light back on.. I figured it wasn't the one I just fixed so I went ahead and attempted to pull the LF wheel speed sensor to check it out. It was stuck in the hub, I put some penetrating oil on it and attempted to slowly work it out, it broke. None of the local part stores can get the sensor, so I had the dealer order it. Just put the new sensor in, the light is still on, and when the new sensor is plugged in the abs activates on even light brake applies. This thing is driving me nuts, again, never ending liberty problems. So I unplugged the bran new sensor and the ABS stops activating all the time but yeah I still don't have any abs, and the darn light is still on. The last thing I want to do is take it to the dealer, but my cheaper OBDII scanner can't tell me what/where the problem is.
If there is someone near me (lower MI 48117) that has a AE scanner or even on that will get into the abs sensor that can help me out, I'll buy the beer!

I really want my girlfriend to have abs when it starts snowing! thanks.

What other never ending issues have you had with the kj besides some bad sensors?

You only have one other sensor left to replace. Either take it to the dealer and get them to figure out why the light is on or replace the RF sensor and hope thats it. I dont believe someone will have the computer like a dealer does.

well wouldn't you think the problem is for some reason still in the LF Wspeed sensor since when its plugged in is when the ABS is activating on light brake applies? I am going to take it to the shop that was able to get into the computer when I had a wiring harness rubbed into, its the CRD and its not easy to access the computers in these things!
I have had a few issues with it, I don't mind fixing things, its just hard to do when you need special scanners to find problems such as abs codes.
So far...
-1- went into a limp mode, CEL would not shift right.. would not go into OD ran very rough. -FIXed by messing with wiring harness, not sure how.
-2- stalling issue, rubbed through wiring harness, a shop known for drive-ability issues was able to find the short and fix it after many hours of messing with it!
-3- the decoupler on the alternator went, cant complain too much about this, it was an easy fix.. a weird one but a simple one.
-4- had the issue with the rear diff sensor abs connector, simple not a big deal!
-5- the EGR is screwed up and still not fixed, I am going to go the GDE tune to fix that one, the egr is useless anyway.
-6- now the abs again..

I might be forgetting something but I think thats all, its not all that bad but it just all happened in a short time span.

You should have just replaced the entire hub bearing which comes with a new ABS sensor,at least then that would have eliminate that wheels sensor(for the most part). As far as needing a special scanner there is no way around that,it takes a good scanner($2000+) for any make or model and those cheap ABS only scanners are worthless.

yeah the sensor along was $30 and i think the whole hub is around $160... I screwed up. I took the hub off when i did the sensor, thats when i realized it would have made more sense to do the whole hub deal.
Oh well. yeah the shop I found should be able to do it, he was last time.

No, when you unplug the sensor its totally gone and the ABS isnt going to work at all. If you just have a bad sensor its sending out a signal saying one wheel is turning slower or faster than another which makes the ABS kick in.

Ok that makes sense, but here's the deal.
When the abs sensor came on the first time it was the rear, I fixed that.
When it came on again it was just the light and abs stop working.. It was not activating the abs on normal brake applies. I checked the rear, seemed fine. Decided I would check the front, bad idea, it broke.
Ordered new sensor, put it in today.. Had to drill out old one, clean hole, used some anti seize and plugged it in.....
Now light is still on and abs activates for no reason so it still thinks it has a bad speed sensor.
I should have just had the shop scan it to start with, you live and you learn right.
The one thing I didn't do is play with the main harness at the ACU, I'll give that a shot tomorrow, I might even pull the new sensor again and check it out. It is normal to have a butt load of grease on it right? It had q good amount on it when I put it in and took it out again.

Don't get me wrong, we really like the liberty, I have all the tools, hoists to work on it (not the right scanner!)..... I just wish it would give me a break between repairs!
Thanks for your replies.
