I think the importer give us the series 297

I saw your post in the CRD section right after I posted that question about the filter. Oops. Keep us posted on what you learn about relocating the filter. That would be a GREAT off-road upgrade for the CRDs!

I checked out their website too. Yes, they have an office in AZ, but I'm not sure if it's a warehouse. No prices or ordering information was listed online, so I'm guessing you'd have to contact the AZ office and ask how it's done. Another interesting piece of info from the ASFIR website: the Liberty skids are 6mm thick aluminum. Not sure how well that would hold up on the rocks, 6mm thick or not. They sure look very cool and beefy though.

Thanks to kickit_in4wheel, PitViper and 0311_DoC for your compliments

I think there is a mistake on asfir site because mine its normaly 8mm

I'll measure it for sure

Sweet looking KJ..can't beleive you got that MT under the wheel cover...nice

World Rally cars use Aluminium skid plates, but are about 15mm thick and are classed as a consumable item.

What you have to be very careful of, and has caught out a few teams is....

If you get stones sandwiched between the sump (filter etc...) and the aluminium deflects, it can punch a hole through it.

WRC cars combat this by fitting High Density foam between the guard and sump, this prevents stones getting in there in the first place.

They used to use titanium for the guards (some maybe still do) but it proved better to have the 'malleability' of the Aluminium, they just need to be careful that the amount of aluminium scrubbed off does not put them underweight (they run that close!!!)

So in short, if you do a lot of rock crawling, you will need to replace aluminium items regularly...but they look awesome.

Thanks for your tips about the aluminium

Here in France we have lots of mud not lots of rocks but i do carrefully for the beginning

For the cover we need to cut a bit and move forward also

:D

"Bling" is shiny stuff, it's mostly used by rappers to describe their gold/diamond/platinum jewelry. Hence; blingness - having or showing bling like qualities.

Rappers look cool (suposedly) because they wear shiny bling stuff next to tough stuff like guns and tattoos. Your truck looks cool because it's got shiny bling stuff next to tough stuff like mud tyres, black rims and skid plates. Your skids though are both bling and tough, which is cool!

You could've had mine for nothing, except that I just recently chucked it out. Sorry about that.
FYI: I stop people nicking my spare tyre with locking wheel nuts!
:)

Dropped Asfir a line about the skids. Got this reply:
Quote:
Dear Chris,

Thank you for your e-mail and your interest in our products.

As of yet we have the diesel version available.

We are in the midst of opening a warehouse in Arizona.

When the warehouse is open I will let you know and this way you will be able to buy our products directly in the States.

Kind regards

Does the coil come off the plate with full flex, looks like?
If yes, you have too long shock, also looks like that coils dont sit properly in the plates in back, any comments?

[quote="indian-family"]Voilà the pics of my kj prepared

It misses just the boulder bars.
They are to be posed (pics to come)
I take it this evening

Image

I mean the picture from back where left side of the back of the KJ is fully extended, to me it looks like that the shock allows the coil to come off from plate...
