I tried to fix the leaking electrical connector. Cleaned it with MEK and then carefully put some Plastic Welder epoxy around the contacts base. Even put the filter head under a vacuum to try to pull the epoxy into the leak site. Next day it was leaking worse than before. Placed an order with Mopar Parts America for the new filter-separator and wiring kit. Price was $102 including shipping. Then received a message that the part was on extended back order and wouldn't be expected until around the end of October. Tried local dealers and found that one about 25 miles away still had one. Price was about $142. Ouch! Since we want to use the CRD to pull a trailer pretty soon, I bit the bullet.

I have the 8/80 Certified Used Vehicle Powertrain Warranty but not the stupid paperwork, Chrysler actually refused to specify what is covered but, from what I can tell, if the engine block breaks in two or the rear axle housing fails because of a defect they are good for it but not much else. And the stealer demand $109 for diagnosis of what we already knew because it's a 'issue not covered under the warranty', only they claim they don't know if something is covered until they enter it into their ridiculous 'puter system. "Computer says 'NO'!" We'll see how that goes with Citicard disputes dept...

I ordered the in-tank pump (5143160AA) and gasser harness (56050284AB) a week ago but billkayparts.com pulled a switcheroo on me, the $111 dollar pump assy suddenly became $180, only they forgot to let me know and couldn't be bothered to follow up so the CRD has been in the barn for a week now with an almost empty tank waiting on unshipped parts.

Man, it's tough to own a Jeep, if I hadn't installed that expensive ARB bumper/winch I think this ride would be history... The old E320 Mercedes wagon is a first-string ride again, 140k and basically no problems as usual.

A VW service writer once explained it to me that power train warranties includes "anything lubricated by engine or transmission oil"

I got the same error code today, I was on the thruway doing 75, punched the accelerator for a pass, and got a CEL? Checked it with my scanner to get a "P0093 Large fuel leak". Is there a TSB for this, or am I on my own to make this repair?

BTW, it is nice to have the Lost board back, another CRD owner was lost with out you.

Your not on your own, you have LOST!! But as far as dealer support, well I'm sorry.
There is no TSB for this as far as anyone has reported.

There's enough information above for you to correct the problem.

I got the new filter head assy today, just wondering if I really needed this, being I am not leaking fuel out of the heater connector?

Unplug the heater plug and push the primer button and see if fuel leaks out.

I did just that Joe, then I opened the bleeder and got a little air out, and repeated till it ran clear. Now I can pump it until it is rock hard, and I am unable to pump no more. It never got that hard previously. And no fuel running out of the heater plug. Well any ways I got a new fuel head with the new connector just in case, I am sure I could sell it on this forum if it turns out I don't need it. I am going to Philly to pick up my 2nd CRD this WE, maybe that might need the fuel head?

FINALLY got the pump and harness (5143160AB & 56050284AB) and got it all together in less than two hours this afternoon, mostly fighting with carpet, it's nice to have a two-post lift in the shop. Primed easily with the pump and away we went, or so I thought...

Problem is my fuel gauge is still on empty w/ the fuel light on despite adding 14 gallons of fuel. I swapped the float arm, it snapped in place like it should, the fuel module is oriented like the original. I checked the pump before I put the tank back in but the not the float as I didn't feel like adding fuel to the almost empty tank to then have to either muscle in by myself or drain back out...

What did I screw up?

So I guess the prefered way to do a lift pump, is by putting one in the tank? What are the downsides of just putting one in line? I could probably put an in-line one on my Jeep, the same one that is mounted to the side of my Cummins ISB?

This seems to be one way to do it and have it all look factory, there's a write-up in the tech forum. The pump is a Dodge diesel, the harness Jeep gasser and, in this instance, the install ham-fisted. This ain't my first in-tank fuel pump install so I was more than a little surprised.

It runs great with the exception of the fuel gauge/light and, hopefully, the CEL and prime issues are history.

Looks like I overlooked changing the wiring around in the cabin plug for the gasser tank harness, somehow got it in my pointed head that it was plug and play, copied this from http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... c&start=20 but does "n/c" mean 'no change' or 'no conductor'? So the only change is 1 & 3 go to 8 & 9, respectively?

UPDATE: Changed the wires around and everything works great. That was until I swapped ECU's to send the original to GDE, now it's immobilized by the Sentry Key Immobilization System, I can't win for loosing...

UPDATE: The GDE reflashed ECM is installed. What a difference these mods (pump, reflash) make, no more of the hinky stumbling, no more stalling in the morning, better 'seat of the pants' feel, etc... Haven't driven it enough to give the fuel economy a fair test but it seems to have improved.
