Has anyone relocated the rear shock lower mounts to a higher location on the axle? I hit mine on rocks a LOT. I ended up bending the crap out of one this weekend. I can cut it off and fab up another one, but it will still hang down and hang on stuff. I have plenty of lift in the back and I will be putting in the hockey pucks for bumpstops, so uptravel will already be limited. If I move the shock mounts up by the same amount that I add in bumpstops, there shouldn't be an issue, right?

I'd like to get them up a couple of inches at least. Especially since I have to make a new mount anyway.

JBA makes a mount, you just have to have it welded on. Brings the shock closer to the axle for more clearance.

You will need to get shorter shocks. The OME 132 shock may be short enough but you would need to check once you got everything together and got it flexed out. Thats even with adding bump stops.

Yes the original Al in Jeepin By Al had new brackets where you could run the stock length shock, may be the same design JBA sells now

Yup, JeepinbyAl = JBA.

I think if you relocate the mounts, you can use stock length shocks. Your getting about 2" back by reloacting.

Jeepin By Al was started and originally owned by Al Handy. He sold "Jeepin By Al " to Marlon who now runs and owns it.

I guess you would have had to of been around for 4 or 5 year to know that Sorry

I am kind of hoping that I can keep my extended shocks AND relocate. Of course that is only possible if I limit up travel by the same amount that I relocate. For example, if I move the shock mount up 2" then I have to add 2" of bumpstop. But the upside is that I now have shock mounts that aren't hanging on every rock I go over. I should have the room for the bumpstops. I have an OME coil AND a 2.5" Daystar spacer in the rear right now.

You will loose some flex. The suspension can only droop down so far and youre going to be limiting the up travel quite a bit. Not sure why you dont want to get shorter shocks, they dont cost that much.

Ruff Stuff sells some pretty nice brackets and they are a decent price.

Cost isn't an issue. I have to limit uptravel anyway to keep the rear tires from ripping my flares off and/or stacking the rear coils. So I'm thinking with the added bumpstops I can keep the extended shocks and not take a chance on limiting down travel or overextending the shocks.

This stuff does look good, but I think I'll just cut my own. I have the steel lying around. I like that 9" ford diff they make. It would be nice to see them make a steel D30 drop in for ours

You can check out Ballistic Fab as well if you are buying fab parts. They were a good deal cheaper than anyone else while I was looking for SAS stuff.
