(Now I know VAGCOM does not and my Innova 3030 does not, either.)

Thanks,

I know the OTC Genesis and the Snapon Etho's(and higher models) will with the correct software installed.Sadly all those scanners start at $1500 to over $10,000.

Hi flman,

I have an Innova 3120 and it does not. Any chance you could check with your 3160? (If you want to set a code, just disconnect the rear speed sensor and the "brake" and "ABS" lights will go light up on the dash. The rear speed sensor is on the top of the differential housing. The plug has a slide lock that you pull back and then disconnects from the sensor.)

I still am not clear whether ABS codes are stored, either. I'm happy to buy an Innova 3160 or something else that can read this stuff that does not cost thousands. So, if you could check this out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Step one would be to confirm that it actually reads "active" codes (i.e. when the ABS/brake dash lights are actually on).

Step two would be to reconnect the rear speed sensor and drive a few feet. The dash lights will then both go out. Then, rescan and see if the scanner picks up "stored" codes.

If it does, don't clear them. Drive 100 miles and see if they are still there. If still there, drive several hundred miles and confirm they are still there, then go ahead and confirm that the 3160 can actually clear "stored" codes.

Having to depend on Chrysler only for this is a major drawback. If you have found the "reasonably priced" solution, it will be great boon to our community,

(BTW, my "euro" TC has just arrived. Hopefully, I will be back to the dyno in a couple of weeks to do back to back runs comparing the GDE Eco and HOT tunes to let everyone know whether it will be worth it to them to spend the $$$ for the upgrades.)

Thanks,

DOC

I will give that a try and report back, I doubt it will work? According to the site http://www.canobd2.com/Products/ToolDet ... 5F754C9808 the 3150 & 3160 can do ABS

I got mine for about $200 on Amazon

There are 14 pins (2 are a little longer than the rest) on the plug that goes into the OBDII port.

Really appreciate you taking the time to look into this.

The top 2 middle ones are a little longer, and I have a total of 14. If I could I would do the test today, but I have 3 sprained fingers on my left hand in splints, I have to type with one hand. I also want to change the ATF, install skids and hooks, but my darn hand wont allow me to have any fun :x

Maybe I will be better by the weekend?

I have the Innova 3100c and it struggles with the standard OBD codes never mind anything proprietary.

About 10% of the reads and 80% of the code clear attempts fail.

Well I took one for the team sort of

I climbed underneath and found my ABS plugs into the wheels, I could not pull the red tab one handed, nor did I want to take the chance of breaking it so........

I went to the fuse box under the hood and pulled the ABS fuse, got a DTC U0121, No communication with the ABS, triggered CEL and ABS light. Shut off key, put fuse back, still have CEL and DTC. Was able to clear the DTC after words. So it looks like the Innova 3160 might be a winner? With no codes I can connect to ABS and get Cxxxx. It is supposed to be able to read transmission codes, but I have never got it to connect.

Hey thanks flman!

If I understand you correctly, the initial problem with communicating with the ABS module was caused by the way you created the "problem", namely removing the fuse to the ABS. Correct?

With the fuse replaced, your Innova would then communicate with the ABS module.

However, you had some difficulty getting it to clear the codes, but eventually prevailed?

(Just want a bit more corroberation before "springing" for yet another scanner. I am also a little concerned that your's is an '06. Our's is an '05 and I believe there are some differences that could make your model Innova work on your CRD and not on mine.)

Thanks Again,

DOC

Yes, removing the fuse created the problem.

It could communicate with the ABS with the fuse in or out., CEL or no CEL.

I could not clear the code, until a second try of disconnecting and reconnecting.

There was a glossy printed chart, on a piece of paper, taped to the outside of the box when I bought it, it says "ABS Applications for most Ford, Chrysler, and GM, all models of Liberty, 2002-2008."

The Name on the box is in this order "ABS + Scantool CanOBD2"

It might be worth a try, you can always return it.

Update, I tried to make connection to read the TCM, still not able to do that. But I did find that it will easily connect to the ABS systems, with no problems. I just had to use a different menu  So this is a great reader for ABS. Does any one know of a scanner that can connect to the TCM?
