Well, after reading as much about Frankenlift as possible last night, and then evaluating my options, I finally bit the bullet and ordered a Frankenlift this afternoon. :shock: They are on a tree week back order. No biggy, I'll be out of town 2 of those three weeks.

I kept going back and forth. Splurge the $800, or wait to see if I am one of the lucky few who doesn't have any problems from the OTT. Well, I couldn't take the risk. I know my wife will be ultra mad, but I'll explain things to her, and she'll understand. Otherwise, I'll be spending more than $800 to fix my suspension that was voided when I lifted it.

I can't wait for this Frankenlift! I feel confident that I am getting a HIGH QUALITY product from Quinn and co :!: :!:

You really need to check you ball joints to make sure they are ok before putting this lift on. I hope you dont order this lift and then have to also replace the ball joints. Please go out and check them when possible. Check the dust boot around the upper ball joint. You said when you go over bumps you get a clunk in the otehr thread, i hope that wasnt your call joint hitting. Just worried about ya! I hate to see people spend money when they dont know.

Also when you first get the franken lift it takes it awhile to settle and looks like its to high at first, your cv joints will looks awful before it settles.

Alot of people have to get jeepin al's upper control arms so it aligns right. I think you should gotten the OME lift like Ive got. Its a 2in lift and is perfect for people that dont do series off roading. It has zero problems with anything, perfect for a person like you, and its cheaper too.

After all is said and done, I think you will be happy with the Frankenlift.
I still love mine after a year of use and abuse.

I just wnet out and checked my bj's. I don't see any signs of wear or that I have hit them at all. I think that loud clunking nose was my struts bottoming out. It didn't really sound like the springs getting hit on the bj's. It had more substance!! :D

As for going with a smaller lift, I want the most I can get. I already have 265/75's waiting in my garage. I know I have some trimming ahead of me, but it will all be worth it in the end.

I did read that thread last night about the FL taking a while to settle-in fully, and that I need to hit some good bumps off road to assist with this. I think I can take care of that... :lol:

As for the seriousness of my adventures, I want to be able to git-r-done out there. Here's a pic of my last run. I was completely stock and made it much farther than I expected. Aside from my rock rails (if you can call the factory ones that), nothing was damaged.

You seem to know what youre doing. The moog ball joints are the best lower joints out there, jeepin al can get you the greaseable ones, his uppers are also greaseable. Good luck!! Just trying to help ya! :wink:

I appreciate the help!! God knows, I have had tons of questions, but I have been on forums long enough to know that there is a search function there for a reason!!

Can someone post up some links to these better ball joints? The only ones I recall looking at are the Tereflex's...Thanks.

Fish Eye, I've got an 04 with the OTT lift in it. I found out late myself too about the problem. These guys here have great advice and you bought a great new lift from All J. I've been on the phone with them recently myself. Unfortunately my upper ball joints are damaged from the OTT lift. So in the spring the Franken lift will go in mine too, along with Al's upper control arms and the Moog lower ball joints. It'll just solve all my problems and take care or any damaged parts. Do it once and enjoy. Plus I like the ability to grease....

Ill never understand what dc was thinking when they put these balljoints in the libbys. Theyve been having problems with them since 2002 and all they need to do is put greaseable ones in. So simple.

Those rock rails have since been binned. I must say though, they did save my rockers, so it wasn't a total waste. I do need some boulder bars though...
