The weather was spring like today, and the outer beach at Smith Point was open. Since getting the Franky in, I haven't had the chance to test it out on the sand, so I took it out to the Moriches Inlet via Burma Road.

Getting on the sand

The road gets skinny skinnier lined with dwarf pitch pine.

Back on the oceanside headed back. No waves today, and no fishing pole, just a drive on the sand...

Thanks for looking.

looking good. I see that you even aired down 8)

Do you know if the 4x4 fishing permit that goes on the dash board is good for smith point? Would like to take a ride up there some day since im home now for a while.

Yeah, ya gotta get that air down on the sand! Stauns tire deflators do a quick job of letting the air out. I was ready to roll in under 6 mins for all 4 tires.

I know you need a county permit to go east of the smith point bridge ($90 for Suffolk county residents). And to go west of the bridge you need a federal fishing permit (fire island national seashore) and need to be actively fishing. Permits used to cost $50 a season but not sure what the real deal is nowadays.
