I have the same issues with Rusty's springs sagging with my ARB. They started to sag a little over a week after I put it on. Im looking into getting a set of stiffer springs for the front. Anyone know how much a set of FRONT ONLY springs from Skyjacker would cost? I hear that the ARB weight will drop it from 3" down to 2.5".

Ok, just to pipe in here, you want OME926 or 927's on your front end if you're running a Bull Bar. They have little white stickers on them when they come out of the box that denotes what you got. 926 Bar only, 927's bar and winch. 925's are no load front end 1.5" lift .

I contacted Rusty about his springs which I have, and posed the question about weight of ARB with and w/o a winch. Here's his reply:

"Hey Adam , yes [our springs] will hold it up. If/when you add a winch and it goes down alittle , that is what we designed our strut plates for, they are pretty cheap and work good , thanks"

Did the washer bottle have to be relocated? I've got an '04, and looking into buying an ARB and winch. (Just got my tax return) :)

ARB gives you a sheild to cover the bottle but it still hangs down. So I replaced mine with a coolant overflow bottle from Advance Auto Parts for $10.95, drilled holes for the pump and sensor and mounted it to the Pass. fender. Took about a hour to do. They have a 2.5 Qt. and a 1.5 Qt. size.

Thanks. I KNEW I had seen a post about the coolant return somewhere, but hadn't been able to re-find it.

Now, let's see...........I want a winch, but the stock bumper is plastic and won't hold it, so I need an ARB.
The combined weight of the ARB and winch will cause the front suspension to sag, so I need heavier springs.
They don't make heavier springs for stock height, so I'll HAVE to get a Frankenlift..........

Hmmmm..............Some rock rails, and some Revos to replace the SRAs, and I'll bet all set! :D

What is it they say? J.E.E.P (Just Empty Every Pocket)

Scrap the plastic, and get the Rock Lizard bumper, then either build or buy a winch cradle.

Then put the winch on when you need it, no weight of it when you don't.

For now I kept the washer bottle in the stock locale and am using the shield. I figure it's not in front of the tires and I'll be putting my tires on the rocks, not my bottle. Hard to get traction driving on your washer bottle. Well, at least that's the plan. Talk to me after my 3 Jamborees this season!

Oh yea, and notice that I didn't paint that washer shield so the lines of the bumper are in tact and that washer skid just disappears.

I've thought about it. Hard. However, since a typical 9000 lb. winch weighs in at about 80 lbs., I don't know If I want to have to lug it out of the back, even IF I would only use it once in a blue moon. I'm still considering it, though. Having a front receiver would be VERY nice, especially when trying to maneuver a camper into a tight spot, OR a boat OUT of one............

One more however. Over 99% of the time, I shouldn't need a winch. That means that 99% of the time, it would be taking up space in the back of the KJ. And, if you're like me, you can understand why I'd like as much space as possible. :)

I would have loved a receiver up front. I don't need a winch. It's rarely used, and I don't wheel alone, so I can always get a tug or winch pull from someone else. Hard to justify the cost and weight.

I've only been in one situation where a winch was required to cross a muddy, marsh. It was a MESS! Only the 5 Jeeps with winches went across. The other 15 Jeeps turned back. We were all in over our heads. One guy needed TWO winches because his couldn't pull him through the mud. Oh, and to get into this creek, you had to drop down off a 4 or 5' embankment. I would have destroyed front and rear bodywork for sure!

Going in:

Trying to get across unsuccessfully (note the tire tracks in front of him)

Here he is coming to a halt under winch power:

And finally, after about 2 hours of looking at this, the rest of us turned back:
