Has anyone ever looked around on this site? They have 4:10 gears for the front for only $368, not that bad.

Wow, just looked at headers for our 94 grand and they are $473!! I can get the mopar headers at advance for $188!

Are those two parts (and a ton of work) really all you'd need to convert the front from 3.73 to 4.10?

Carolina Classic Trucks has 4.10 D30 ring and pinion sets for $130. Those won't fit in the aluminum D30, of course, but shouldn't we expect aftermarket D30A rings and pinions to come out soon, for something in the $150-200 range? $368 seems steep to me, but I'm no mechanic.

Wouldnt this make the center diff break even easier? or would it be less since its under less torque? Hmm?

I still can't understand why they put 3.55 gears in the 05 rennys sure wish I had 3.73

4.10 is a bit much for a daily driver I think... for me anyway since I drive 60 miles every day

I believe 3.55 gears are for the manual 6-speed only and that there was a mistake on Jeeps website with the build sheet or something. I remeber someone e-mailing Jeep and asking. Also it shows the sport as having 4.10 even with the v6. So basically it just shows the gear ratio in the base configuration for that model and dosen't update for tranny or engine.

The manual 6-speed is gear really darn low, that is probably the reason for the 3.55 gears. Something like 4.5:1 for first and .86:1 for OD (6th). Veruses the 2.84 (1st) and .69 (OD) for the auto.

My 2005 Rennie has 3.73 gears in it.

Yes you are right, after crawling under there in the dark with a flashlight and a mirror I found the sticker. It is a 3.37.... maybe 4.10's wouldn't be so bad after all.

Too good to be true if I remember the ages old discussion.

Looking at the site it sure looks like these are the DC 4.10s and not after market. Problem is there are different versions of the D30A. In order to use the DC 4.10s you have to replace the entire front diff.
