It works on my 05. I didn't have any codes, and it just said "done"

my '02 doesn't do anything unless it's got a code. At first I thought it just plain didn't do anything, until my CEL came on and I cycled the key. Loose gas cap (thanks little brother for borrowing the car! dork!)

Good to know. I just tried this on my 02 and it didn't say anything. I was wondering if it worked, but I guess I just don't have any codes.

Just hold down the Odometer reset button and turn the key to the charge position. 2002-2004 Gassers this works on them all why cycle the key when this is easier and works every time? lol.

I tried this and the dash lights and gauges went into some sort of diagnostic mode and the gauges moved to different intervals and the odometer showed 111111,222222, and so on up to 999999, then it says trip 6.0 and then it seems to exit the mode and it just reset my trip mileage. Why cant I pull codes or check to see if there are any?

This works on my 05, but it took three cycles to do it. Starting from the "On" position, OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON, and code came right up.

My 06 will show codes the same way my 03 Ram did......

Hold down the Odometer reset button and Turn the key to the On position the Guages will go through a test and will then show any codes stored after a CEL

I did this and it seemed to work  The instrument cluster did a test on itself and at the end it displayed what I think is a code, it read 6.3  Does anybody know what this means? I tried on off and nothing :? Any help is help...

Turning the key to the on position while pressing the odometer reset knob does not retrieve any code.

It is indeed an actuator test that puts the instrument cluster in self-diagnostic mode. The number that appears at the end of the test is the software version number.

This is based on the service manual. Section 8J (Instrument cluster - diagnosis and testing).
