So I bought some coaxials for the dash. They're 3.5" Lanzar speakers and the magnet is way too big to fit in the factory hole. Has anyone modified this spot to fit a 3.5" coaxial? I'd rather not just throw a tweeter in there.

Not in a KJ but in the ex-wife's 2000 Neon. Was a great hing to do and brought the imaging up to where it needed to be. Going to do it again in a 2004 Neon for my brother. Remember the opening may not allow for the most sound to come through. You may have to modify th edash cover with more holes and seal off the top edge of the speaker to the dash cover.

Thanks. Gonna have to make a custom mount on top of the dash panel and cut a hole through it. Fiberglass :)

BTW, love your avatar. That's the best road track in the world.

I upgraded mine with Boston Accoutics and ran into the same problem. I used a heat gun to expand the area a little bit. I ended up cutting the speaker grills out and mounting the speakers on top of the upper dash panel. Let me know if you need pics.

Yes please! I've yet to complete this because I just haven't felt like it, but pics would help a lot.

Here are the pics. Let me know if you have any questions. This was the only way I could get them to fit. The magnets are bigger diameter and the speakers are taller than the stock.

Do the speaker grill covers completely cover them? If so, that is a sweet idea for an upgrade.

My speakers didn't come with grill covers, but now that you mentioned it, I am going to look for a set.
