You ever notice how there's no diesel options for anything smaller than a full-size pickup? (american made)

Looks very nice, the body reminds me of a Ford Explorer sport Trac only more handsome. I do agree the front bunper needs some tweaking, it looks to car like and easy to mess up.

I wouldn't call that a pick-up. Ford at least called it an Explorer. On the plus side it looks like VW has found out how to seperate the cab from the bed.

I had a '78 diesel rabbit p/u that ran great until the body rusted out and could not pass inspection (no floors). If the new p/u with diesel is as good and has better rustproofing I would get it

VW owners for the most part are cheap and know more about automobiles then the average Toyota or Honda owner
That means VW has to work harder to get good ratings (read discriminating)

I bought one of the first available 99.5 Jetta TDI's built in Mexico. I found the quality of that car to be very good and remained happy with it for 114k miles and now my son is happy with it. Clean and waxed it looks as good as my 3 year old 30k mile KJ that I have babied and the drivers seat foam is not collasping like on the KJ

My thoughts regarded the pickup truck's from Honda, Toyota and now Vdub. Thery're all butt ugly.

My oldest daughter had a '07 Jetta until just recently. It was a nice car. I don't recall her having any serious problems with it.

The Jeep Gladiator Concept Truck was fantastic looking...too bad most try to make trucks look like cars. I would rather cut off the back cargo roof and half of the passenger roof to make the truck bed on a Jeep Liberty CRD. Then make it a two seater with storage behind the seats...

Anyone good at photoshop? I'm obviously not and don't have the program to boot.

yeah a looks like a Baja.

I bet if Subaru Brought those back with the boxer diesel they wouldn't be so bad. but we would never see it in the states. I wanted a Forester to replace my Outback sedan but since I was thinking about gettin a camper of some sort I want something that could towand not limit my options so much. THe euro spec Forester with the boxer diesel came close to what the liberty can do but they will never sell it here I fear.

Yep, if they ever brought the Subaru Diesel (that they already have developed) is a trucklike body...it would sell.

Well it does look like it has a built in winch and rollers at least.

I'm confused. Is it 657-SAVE or 590-MOVE?

Back on topic, I fail to see the purpose of 'concept' cars. The execs already know what cars are going to be made and pay no attention to feedback about the concepts that make the auto show circuit if it's not already in the plan. Neat things like the Gladiator and Voyager (a diesel minivan - already in production for overseas) will never make the light of day, so why waste money on them?

I'm not saying these two concepts shouldn't have made it to production, I'm all for that. But why tease? It just upsets the people who might actually want them someday.

'Course I also don't believe in the 'Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday' mantra either. Or that the Viper is a 'halo' car for Dodge.

maybe the US manfu will WAKE up..a small diesel pickup would sell well..

I would think Toyota could give Dodge/cummins a run for the money if Toyota offered a diesel in any pickup model. this should be much of a challenge since they sell diesel to the rest of the world..just not the US..

just my 2 cents

-dkenny

Cummins owners don't want imported diesels, aluminium diesels, timing belts, V-* diesels. That just want their Cummins, and if it were in a Ford or Chevy, most of them would drive either one. I think you are dreaming that some J*p PU truck is gonna give Cummins a run for the money.

Another thing is VW makes some solid vehicles, we have owned over 10 in our family, and they are built very precise and offer alot of value for the money.
