Tire Help...

What would be a better choice of tires? I have a 05' Renegade and I was thinking about putting either of these tires on ..

- Hankook Dynapro ATm Rf10

or

- Grabber AT2 All Terrain Tires

.. also not sure whether or not to go with the same size (225/75R16) or upping it to (235/75R16). This it also after I toss a 3'' Rough Country lift on it.

You can easily go up to 245/75R16's after the lift.I wouldn't choose either of those tires but my taste in tires is more on the hardcore offroad side though.

Hmm.. What would you prefer? I'm in college so I'm kind of on a short budget lol .. and i commute so I need something decent for daily driving.

Thanks for the reviews! Their both something I can see myself using.. What would you recommend?

Mostly DD then look at the Firestone Destination ATs they are a good street friendly tire, wear great good on all kinds of roads

Rough Country lift ??????? much better choices for the money. I wouldn't have that on my Ex Mother in Laws wheel barrow

I will defer any recommendation to the guys with more experience, but some things you will want to consider are:

- Where you live and how often you travel outside of that eco-system. For example, if you live in a very dry area, hydroplaning resistance is probably less important to you than dry braking. If you live in the snowbelt, dry braking is probably less important than snow traction.

- The terrain in which are you most likely to be stuck. For example, here in Indiana, if I get stuck it will likely be in mud or deep snow. Somewhere else it will be sand or rocks.

- The on/off-road driving ratio. Are road performance, gas mileage, rolling resistance, etc more important than off-road performance to you?

Bottom line is determine your needs and choose accordingly.

A good all-purpose choice that doesn't blow up the bank account is the Dayton Timberline A/T ii's. I know of several people who run them and are satisfied. Around here they are $450 or so for four mounted/balanced/installed. The Kumho A/T's are also a tire with a good rep and decent perfromance. Neither is a hard-core off road tire, but that probably isn't what you are looking for, anyway, from your examples.

For a budget lift go with Daystar, for the best quality go with something that uses Old Man Emu MD, HD, or CRD springs.

For tires go with Firestone Destination (essentially the Dayton Timberline so whichever is cheaper for you) or Toyo Open Country for A/T; Maxxis Big Horn or Goodyear MTR/MTRw/K for the M/T variety.
