Battery cable is shot (chewed through by mice) & shorted out the vehicle. :frankie: Called Advanced auto & Auto Zone & they don't carry the part. Is this a dealer only part? Anyone know where else i might pick it up at?

TIA

Which one? The positive is a multi ended cable(going to multiple parts),dealer part only unless you modify other cables to work.

Do you have a picture of the damage area. It'll be non-stock, but you may well be better off fabricating (or having a decent shop do so) a new cable or cable section if the damaged area doesn't have too many "vehicle specific" doo-dads. Jeep doesn't necessarily use parts/components any better than you can get from quality auto parts suppliers, they just make them the exact (usually) fit and charge more... If you're handy or have a buddy who is, you may be able to save money AND get a better product than you would get from a dealer.

Last night i didn't look that close as it was dark and cold and i was stopped in the lane of a 2 lane road (no shoulder). This morning i checked and it is in fact the (+). i see there are two (+) leads and various other wires as you describe. One of those leads is completely exposed now about 12" from the battery. Will be locating the part this morning and, hopefully, changing this afternoon.

Dgeist, thought about your suggestion but since that (+) lead is fried at that section i'm concerned it may have damaged other wires coupled w/it (hard to see). At this point i'll just go ahead and get the OEM part and make sure it's done right. Thanx for the thought though.

Yellowcoyte, liquid tape?
