Digger - Last I heard he was having computer issues (which is why he was a day or two late getting Secret Santa names out).

Starting Jan 1, 2010 texting while driving will be banned. The fine will vary between $75.00 - $150.00 And it will be a moving violation on your driving record! w00t! About FRIGGIN' time! Oh yeah, get caught texting in a school zone or construction zone - lose your license for 1 year!

You're also not supposed to talk on a cell phone while driving in Chicago... see how well that rule works

Well according to the State, we've recently lost a construction worker and a student (in a school zone) both to drivers texting. The city is the city - The state (especially the State Police and the suburban cops) won't ignore driver's who are texting.

Almost forgot - I'm not going to get into a political discussion here - 1), because it's not allowed, and 2), because I don't care to - but this crap about Obama moving the terrorist detainee's from Gitmo to the Thompson Center Federal Prison is a bad idea. Actually it sucks!

That's all I got to say about that.

I decided to post here rather than in random thoughts.

Let's just say - Yesterday I had one of the best, most exciting days I've experienced in a long time. I met up with someone from my past and I can't stop thinking about what a great day it was.

We had a catered Christmas luncheon at work today. They held had a raffle. I won a gift certificate from MacNeil Automotive Products for a 4 pc set of custom made WeatherTech mats. I didn't know they were a local company in Downers Grove? Anyway, I'll order a set for the KJ. I really wanted the 40" Sony Bravia HD TV for my master bath but no such luck. They also gave away a Dell mini laptop (was happy not to win that), a Nikon SLR, a Snap-On 100 pc tool kit, a iPod Nano, and some sort of food processor, I think?

Hey, at least I won something I can use, right?! 8)

I wish I got $250.00 for watching Oprah and surfing the internet all day! :ROTFL: But seriously, that's excellent for you. A lot of companies are hurting bad.

We're actually closed (to general contractors and such) until Jan 18th. However I'm covering for one of the rock crusher operators this week as he took the family to Florida for two weeks. I'm working tomorrow from 6:00 am - 12:00 pm, then I'm on vacation the next two weeks. We're only moving earth materials out for IDOT, Cook & DuPage County highway departments, and various local highway / street departments. So they're all stock piling in case of emergencies between this week and the next two weeks.

For starters, I hope everyone had a nice holiday.

We should be out playing in all this snow! :JEEPIN: I went to the grocery store this morning - tried to have as much fun as possible but the street department was taking away all the fun!

Well, I promised myself to visit Mom's grave before the year was up.
As this is the last weekend of the year, and I didn't go after the Cliffs...
I did the 200 mile R/T in the blizzard of '09. It wasn't that bad
but some blue-hair was doing 25 mph in a 55 zone on 171. :furious:
He had 10 vehicles stung out behind him when I rolled up.
When safe to pass, I came around the whole string at once. :JEEPIN:
Starved Rock S.P. was eerily beautiful all covered in fresh snow. :D

My daughters started a tradition where we visit their mother's grave both on her birthday and Christmas Day. We only travel a few miles down the road to Oakbrook.
