still cant get rid of the noise in the cb help?

maybe it is just the 07's i got cb on and this engine noise or whatever it is commin from comes in plugs my ears then goes away few min later comes back sucks.i got filter on power wire and wired straight to battery..antenna is a mag mount wilson 5000 but i had same results with lil wil and couple others i tried.

Is the CB an el-cheapo? That could be at least a part of the problem.

How's it grounded, antenna and radio?

not a cheapy im into cb's as a hobby ive tried all radios i own and same results with all.i had power and ground goin to battery then moved ground to the ground strap that is on the firewall from factory and no diffrence.. antenna is a wilson 5000 mag mount . tried few couple other antennas with same results the noise comes in for a minute or so then goes away then comes back and if im talkin to someone i lose them when the noise comes in until it fades out then i got my ears again.

ground your exhaust to the chassis

it sounds stupid, but part of what's happening is a build up of electrical static which is having trouble finding it's way to a ground point

it took me 4 ground straps to get mine under control, the ground on the exhaust made the biggest difference so.. figured perhaps work backwards and get the biggest benefit first for ya?

naturally there's other issues too, like what your coax is near, a few ferrite core magnets on the coax inside the jeep may help depending on what your coax is running near, for some reason the center console is a electronic interference PIG, probably because it's right over top of a bunch of crappy small dia. wires that go to various switches as well as the electronic transmission junk

I had an older CB on the Devils Staircase road rally, didn't realize it needed to be grounded... I got noise from the diesel truck that was in the rally....thought it was funny until it got annoying.
Wonder if that's why I couldn't broadcast cause I wasn't grounded??

tend to not be able to broadcast very well if ya got no ground plane

lack of ground typically shows up when ya check the SWR

Bond (ground) as many of your body panels together as you can - take ground straps and place them in between bolts on the hood and fenders, fenders and doors, etc. Then as JeepinJarhead mentioned you can bond the exhaust to the frame and body, preferably a few times as he did (breaks the exhaust up into shorter lengths so it won't mess with your primary frequencies).

Another trick you can try is a static drain which is basically a device that gives the static buildup on your vehicle a way to get off of it. The one I have on my Jeep is about a 6" piece of old brake cable from a bicycle (motorcycle brake or old clutch cable will work too). Just clean any lubricants off of it, solder a round lug on one end of the piece of cable, then take the other end and open it up so the wires make a fan or broom shape (just be careful because those wires will be SHARP!). After you've got it fanned out attach it to a bolt off the underside of the body or frame, off the back end or a hitch works best since the static doesn't have a chance to flow back onto the vehicle. What happens is as air flows across the wires it drains away the static that is created by your Jeep moving down the road rather than letting it build up to the point where it finds a path out. Although even with my drain on my Jeep I had a problem that took me the longest time to figure out - the roof basket was building up a charge but since the roof rails aren't grounded it had nowhere to go until it got a large enough charge. I could hear a faint 'tick... tick... tick' that was the charge crossing a gap and draining away. Once I bonded the roof rails to the roof that problem went buh-bye.

so would i need to bond my roof rails? i just got the stock 2 side rails no croass bars or basket

It couldn't hurt, but if you don't have the antenna mounted to them (you mentioned a mag-mount) then it probably won't be a problem to leave them unbonded. If you have enough coax you might try moving the antenna around to various locations to see if the noise gets particularly bad in one spot - when I tried putting my antenna on the swing gate I found I was getting all sorts of noise from the fuel pump.

motorola makes a RF reduction kit for the fuel pump, looked like a low capacity , what ya call it, cross-over resistor, im horrible with remembering names this morning

same sorta resistor crap we use to fix LED bulb fast flashes , i think 10uf is the resistance

Just a thought. I'm sure everyone knows this, but when I installed my cb I was told to not coil up any excess cable as it might cause interference. Something to consider.

If it's microfarads then it would be a cross-over capacitor. Yeah I read some stuff about that when I was trying to make the antenna work in that location, didn't do the capacitor but I added some ferrite chokes to the power wires to the pump. In the end I just moved the antenna to a ball mount on the front fender where it was much happier

If you can, seperate your CB wires away from anything else that produces a "signal"... radio, ignition wires, etc...

in my experience:

standing at the rear of the vehicle-

Left side interior routing = more fuel pump noise
Right side interior routing = more signal / brake lamp noise
center = electronic transmission noise? <-- whatever it is it's electronically hideous

I went down the left, then brought it back center in the cargo area and crept the coax up the passenger side molding and up to the defrost vent then out behind the weather stripping to the roof

i've gotten rid of most all of the fuel pump noise, maybe half of the ignition noise but it still raises cain when i turn on a blinker

good news is with a less sensitive radio it's dead quiet with the squelch almost all the way off, i may end up tuning down my galaxy a bit just to kill off some of the noise

Which Galaxy do you have? I run the DX-959 in the Jeep and DX-2547 at home. I didn't have any noise problems in the Jeep.

I have a Cobra 25 WX with soundtracker and a mag. ant on the roof , and the only noise I get is when I turn my GPS on or off :BANANA:
