On the left, #2 diesel left inside. Middle, #2 mixed with SVO, right 99% SVO.

Strait Canola.

If you look at the mixed fuel you will see the pinkish SVO, which has solidified pretty well, and the cloudy #2, which is still liquid but is cloudy.

Well, I don't have any bio in my tank or for testing :| but I do know that it wouldn't be liquid at the temps we have been having here in Lynchburg lately. Working outside on my water lines (on the RV) I had a small pail of water I was using. After I was done, I decided to leave it outside overnight just as an experiment. Of course it froze, and at 16 degrees probably didn't take long either. But the experiment part is how long the ice plug would last, during the day and outside it's bucket, just sitting on the ground.

That was on Monday. It's still in the same spot, and the same size.

Since I wake up in the same weather, what does #2 diesel look like when left outside?

I curious to the reddish color in the #2 diesel?? mines more or less clear, maybe a greenish tint?
doesn't look like diesel helps the gel point of SVO.. I know it does with biodiesel.

Red is off road only diesel... No federal road tax is added to it......

Sam: What percentage was your blend? I like your creative approach of turning Off Road diesel into a legal product by turning it into an experimental fuel. The most I have been able to blend without problems is 25%. In the summer only of course.

I'm not running any dyed diesel in my CRD. This is waste fuel leftover from testing, we are doing 8 mode emissions testing on a John Deere 4045T engine. During switchover from #2 to SVO and back we have mixed waste fuel that we do not return to our tank, these are just a few samples of fuel.

I'm really not sure what to do with it, several of us have diesel vehicles, but none of us want to touch the dyed-red. I only recently started taking the waste fuel. At this point we have had maybe 20-30 gallons of wasted fuel, which just goes into our oil disposal.

Got a home heater that uses 'heating oil' there Sam? Three guesses what that 'oil' is, and the first two don't count.

If not... You could always send it to me, I've got a "heater" that could use it. :SOMBRERO:

Nope, if I used heating oil at home I would be all over this.

At the very least I can use this as solvent or fire starter.

You can legally use it next time you go off road. Fill up a 5 gallon canister for later use.

You can also use it on any private roads (not state / federal owned, like a toll road) if you have receipts to show the mileage driven on those roads in the minuscule chance that anyone ever questions you.

Ya, I'm sure the tax man has never heard that before.

True enough... BUT the difference is you have a vehicle that isn't normally used for construction work (where most of the people who get checked would be employed) but IS used for off-roading which is precisely what the dyed fuel is for. No highway taxes pay for off-road trails.

And again, the chances of a Jeep getting checked when I've gotten "Jeep sold a diesel?????" MANY times, sadly from sales droids too... You'd win the lotto twice over before getting checked, I should think.

The difference is one puts in you in the black, and the other the red.
