On my way home from work this morning.....

I stopped for fuel(diesel) and fried gas station burritos, I had to wait for a car (gas) to leave one of the two pumps that also have diesel. No big deal, I'm not in a hurry... They leave so I pull up and fill up and head in to the store for my tasty fried treat:) When I come out I have two big red necks giving me the stink eye.
Jim Bob(I'm guessing) says "people that block the diesel piss me off" I said "I hear ya, man" the other on pops off "He means you!!" at this point I understand these two dips**ts don't know my Jeep Liberty is a diesel.... I explain that my Jeep is in fact a diesel, so I start it and I get the "it sounds like a tractor" crap. I look over and just smile and say " Why do you care about the diesel pump, your truck is gas right?" I get "no its a diesel" I smile again and explain " hmmmm. dude the green one is diesel, your pumping gas..." These two turds pumped 30 gallons of unleaded in their 40 gallon tank. I'll still be smiling for hours. Karma I guess:)

I'm perpetually worried I'm going to accidentally grab the wrong nozzle at the place I fill up. BP uses Green for Gasoline and Black for ULSD :) Haven't done it yet, though. I've seen the long-distance stink eye on occasion from the guys in the Isuzu landscaping trucks until one of them actually looks and then feels stupid and remains silent after they see which pump I'm using.

OMG that is too funny. I don't think I could have stood there and had that conversation with out busting out laughing at them when I saw them pumping gasoline.

I have had some stories I posted before. I get the stinky eye at the pump from Other diesel drivers. I notice funny looks from other jeep owners at the pumps too sometimes but they never ask why I'm pumping diesel.

I wonder how I they recovered from that. I would have died laughing a them.

I always worry about picking the wrong pump handle too. look at the lablels at every station I go to that I have never been to. green is not always diesel. I have seen black handles for diesel at some BP stations and yellow at another.

one BP in Lancaster has balck for diesel has a little sign on the handle that says diesel and its on the pump next to it. then the gas is green and that one is labeled "gasoline not diesel" so no one messes up.

I have not yet and hope I never do. I will never lend the jeep out for fear the borrower decides to be nice and fill it back up with gas for me.

That is why I never come home with an empty tank. If, for some reason, my wife needs to borrow the jeep and it needs fuel, I don't want the added stress of wondering if she chose the right pump. Granted, she's brilliant and can probably explain the fundamental benefits of combustion efficiency of a compression ignition engine over a spark ignition, but still....she drives a gasser, it's easy to forget, and I worry.

My ultimate evil plan is to make sure her next car is a diesel and start filling up with Bio in the garage. No chance of mistakes.

oh yeah that was a winner

I have been thinking about how they would have recovered from that mistake. there is no way the engine would have run long with that much gas with out damage I would guess, so they would have to have done this to avoid any damage
1. pay for the gas they pumped cus the station can't take it back mixed like that or after its in the tank at all.
2. call a tow truck and have it towed to a mechanic
3. have mechanic drain and clean the tank and lines of gas... pay for that labor
4 pay for the disposal of the mixed fuels since its not usable
5 pay to fill up with diesel.

so in the end they payed 3x or more for that tank of fuel :ROTFL:

I had a co worker fill up a ford F550 with gas. It was something like 80-90 gallons. The truck had to be towed and the tanks drained. Then the next week he filled it with kerosen. He didn't last long at that job.

You could mix it in with biodiesel and use it, but you'd probably want to burn at least 60% biodiesel to the gas/diesel mix.

You might be right but do you think those goof balls thought of that? I doubt it. he must have drove away so who knows what they did. I hope they didn't try to drive it for that poor engine's sake
