I have a KelTec PF9 (two of them actually) and it's a great little gun (single-stack 9mm, 7+1). It carries in summer shorts like it's not even there. It does, however, need a little feed-ramp adjusting to load hollow points consistently. The P11 is also a fine little gun from KelTec, though I don't currently own one.

A Cobra CA380 made it's way into my possession at one point. Worst gun I've ever had the displeasure of owning. Stay away from Cobras!!!

The Ruger LCP (380) graced my safe at one point. But I found 380 impossible to procure, so I let it go. It was a really easy carry gun with a snappy recoil.

Kahr also makes some fine guns. There are so many 9mm Kahr models to list...I won't start. Just go here http://www.kahr.com/PA-1_9mm.html and take a look. I actually went to the gun store intending to purchase a Kahr CW9 when I bought my first KelTec PF9. After holding and firing both, I picked the KelTec. After my wife fired my KelTec, she tried to keep it, so I bought her one.

Take your GF to the range and rent a few guns. Don't make the mistake of looking a gun over and assuming it's going to be good for her. Good luck in your shopping!

Yeah i take her just about every time i go, then it's a matter of dragging her back to the jeep before i go bankrupt ;)

range i go to has several locations, so i asked so i could build a list of "requests" so they can pull stock and we can pull triggers until we find what we're lookin for

already gave them most of this list, got a few more to send them, really appreciate the help, pretty much the only thing in my pistol dictionary was large frame's by kimber, springfield, taurus and colt with exception of the taurus slim 9mm i have

My father just went to a gun show last weekend and he said that only two dealers had .380s. One wanted $35 per 50 round box. The other wanted $24.

I still love my LCP though. I keep a box around for carry and such. When I decide to go to the range, I scround around to find a box or two, which I usually can, or reload some.

I agree 67Customs, the LCP is a great little gun. If 380 were more available, I'd still have it.

I know what you mean about getting the GF away from the range before bankruptcy. It's the same way with my wife.

Have her check out the Glock 36. It's the Slimline (single stack, 6+1) .45ACP Glock and it's nice. I told my wife that she had to fire my Glock 21 (full size, .45) a few times since I want her at least knowledgeable about every gun we have. She was terrified, but bucked up and fired it. An hour later, I hadn't touched the gun again, but I had to tell her that she couldn't shoot it anymore because we were out of .45 ammo. I'm now on a search for a G30 or G36 for her.

If you're ever up this way, drop a line and we'll go to the range. You and your GF are welcome to try out a few of my toys. By the way, my wife's favorite now is a S&W Airweight .38Spcl 5-shot revolver. That might be something for your GF to check out too.

for a woman i cant recomend a 38/357 revolver "enough" you can control the recoil with a variety of loads...
Stay clear of the ppk it is a great gun but the recoil is really snappy
my wife hates mine.....a cheaper version of a ppk is the makarov
but if you are going to carry and use for defense the revolver is the way to go
now if recoil is not a problem my wifes new carry gun is a bond arms 45/410
only 2 shots and a effective range of a bout 20-30 feet but very effective and very loud

DANG! I want to go to your range! Ha! No, my winter-time indoor range does not allow the Barret. Sorry. I can't even get them to let me shoot my .44magnum rifle.

ga_repo...did you mean you "CAN recommend a 38/357"? You typed "cant" but the rest of your post sounds like you do recommend it.

The little 5-shot 38/357 is a great defensive carry weapon for my wife. She loves it, fires it extremely accurately, and loves the pink grips I got for it. Her south-paw revolver reloads are something we're still working on, but she's getting faster.

Girls can handle it. Here's my daughter's friend shooting my .45 ACP for the first time. She loved it.

my gf can handle recoil no problem - it's just the grip size she has a problem with, she's pretty tiny physically, like 5'2"

pretty much whatever i get her is gonna be a single stack, cause the doubles are too wide and the thumb groove to trigger contact on my 1911 commander is a bit far for her

Gotcha, that's why I suggested a Kahr K-9 for her, 7+1 single stack. Didn't mean to derail your thread, I was just giv'n a WooHoo for the girls that shoot in general. Semper Fi
