255/70R16 Fits CRD

As per Discount Tire I put Michelin P255/70R16 LTX M&S on my CRD sport.
Still have full turning radius and drives great.

Vehicle is completely stock except for tires or I would have interjected in other posts.

Discount tire told me that too. Hmmmmmm, doesn't sound bad. Can you please post pics so we can see? I have to get my tires next week after my lift.

I'm running BFG A/T's... LT255/70/R16 on a '02 (pre-lowered) Limited w/ slight rub in full turn that I can easily live with. Also purchased from Discount Tire.

hmm... so i wonder if 265x75 will go onto the crd with less rubbing after a lift.

No. Not "yet".

I have a set of 255/70-16s REVOs on my 98 Explorer. Contemplating swapping them over to my wife's Renegade.

That's an awesome looking Liberty you put together there! I need to research this 2.5" Daystar Liftkit you got on it. 1st I have to convince the wife since it's "her" truck!

i just finished a 2.5in daystar kit on my crd and i love it. i got the full kit part # kj09115. it was 275 on the net and no shipping.

i'm thinking of getting the general grabber AT2 in 255/70-16. swis tire (tire shop in co) said they should with no rubbing.

i just installed general grabber AT2s (255/70-16) on my daystar lifted crd. the only rubbing i have is a little bit when i get to the lock. even with going offraod that doesnt bother me at all.

the one thing that does worry me is when the tire comes up. it looks rather tight. have there been any issues with 255/70-16s coming in contact with the inner fender well.

Globel User : can you please post a picture of your stock Liberty with the 255/70R16 tires on it? I want to see how it looks without any kind of lift. I did notice that the Discount Tire website says they are a size that fits. Oddly enough, they did not list the 245/70R16 which we all know will definitly fit without a lift so I'm not all that confident with their website. Do you have rubbing with any flex situations???

Well, I couldn't wait so I just went ahead and tried it. A local tire shop gave me $300 credit for my stock tires with only 588 miles on them. I had already pre-negoatiated a price of $560 installed for 4 Bridgestone Dueller AT Revos size 255/70R16, so I got out of there for $260 and there is a mail in rebate of $75 so now only $185 for the upgrade!!!

They fit great with no rubbing on hard braking in turns. They might be able to rub off-road but there is so much give in the plastic inner wheel wells that it really wouldn't matter. Definitely worth the upgrade on a stock vehicle - no lift needed.

Here ya go. This is a lifted 2003. I would NOT put these tires on a stock Liberty. Even with the lift I get slight rubbing in the rear when articulated.

Don't forget in the title of this thread it states that the 255/70R16 fits a stock CRD. We sit higher in stock form than a gasser so what rubs in an '03 sport does not necessarily rub in an '05/'06 CRD.

Do CRD rims have more backspacing than Sport/Limited/Rene? What's different that allows the CRD to run larger tires with no rubbing?

Goodyear told me that 255/70/16 would fit my stock 2002 with no rub (it was the reccommended size). This is when I was looking into the Silent Armors. I went smaller though just to be safe, I didnt want to trim or remove anything.

The CRD sits no higher stock than a gas model. If anything, they sit lower. I'm running 255/70-16 and I get very light rubbing only at full lock or when at max. flex off road. But I have 2.0" of lift all the way around too. With a stock CRD I wouldn't even attempt 255s personally.
