Just purchased a 2006 CRD Limited. I had been looking for awhile and located one with only 24,000 miles. I think it was one of the lowest mileage CRD's on the continent. I'm hoping it does not have any problems.

I won't be taking delivery until the end of the month, so it will be awhile before I start posting my experiences with it.

So far, the drivers seat side cushion is in rough shape, not sure what I'm going to do about that, I also punched in the serial number on the Jeep owner site and it came up as " No Incomplete Recalls or Customer Satisfaction Notifications Exist" , Till I get it home, I have no way of knowing if it has had the F37 done, I can only assume it has.

Being an 06, I would bet money that it has the F37 tune. Sorry :(

In regards to the seat, I assume you mean the lumbar supports? The only real fix, that I know of, would be to replace the seat altogether.

Otherwise, congrats on your low mileage purchase! I got mine, an 06 w/ 25k miles, this past summer and have loved it ever since.

Thanks. As for the seat, it's the left side support of the lower cushion (part you sit on) the foam under it feels like it's broken :( . (This limited has a cloth interior.) My 12 year old 4runner seats are in better condition !. Oh well, one more thing I'll need to fix.

Well, a new cloth seat should be relatively easy to find... now, the real question: why the heck does a limited have a cloth interior :dizzy:

Nope, a dealer here had a 05 Limited with no sunroof, no leather, no sirius radio, absolutely NOTHING except cruise control. Very odd how Jeep packaged these things.

I also saw a 05 with 16K miles on it for sale here 3 weeks ago.

Nope, in 2006 all CRDs were limiteds, it just depends on how they were packaged, ie "base" or "Limited" but all with the limited name plate, I guess they figured they could charge more for them that way.

Ya I was waiting for someone to come back with that, it seems that around the transition time for production some sports were still made. However, if you wanted to option out or have a CRD built you could only order them as limiteds for 2006.

My build date is 12/2005. As late as May of 2006, I was talking with the Jeep Warehouse in Indiana about ordering a Sport with fogs, alloys, EVIC, and cruise. Not questioning you, just saying.

Plus all the Limited CRD's I've seen have a "Limited" plate under the "CRD" on the rear gate. Mine does not.

I'm not doubting you have a sport - and its very easy to tell the differences between them. But if you went online at the time, all you could order was a limited, maybe it was different if you talked to a dealer - I don't know. But we have seen(and this discussion was probably two years ago), quite a few "basic" 2006 limiteds, with the thinking that they produced them to offer cheaper limiteds - like the sport is supposed to be. It also seemed like the sports we did see in 2006 were early production ones - though without knowing exactly when production started and ended its difficult to say.

Hmm, I smell a new thread coming.......

Now that you mention it, I have been noticing lately how a lot of members have Limiteds rather than Sports.

The member with the latest build date that I know of on here is JL Rockies. May 2006 IIRC.

In my search for another CRD recently, looking only at 2005 models...I've seen Limited with NOTHING...just bare bones with cloth seats. And I've seen Sports loaded with leather and every bell and whistle. Just seems odd how you could get a Sport or Limited in either base or loaded. Dumb marketing on Jeep's part if you ask me. Very dumb.

I have a 05 Limited with sweet NOTHING beyond the silver trim (in and out), color matched fenders and Sirrus. It has cloth seats, cruise, no EVIC, no sunroof, had no tow package.

It was however only 22K brand new off the lot during the employee sale in fall 2005, it had been at the dealer for 3 months and NOBODY there ever drove it, in fact only one sales person even knew they had it and that the liberty came in a diesel. It was also fairly well hidden on the back of the lot, they had to move about a dozen dodge pickups to get it out!

The Bulk of the 2006 CRD's I looked at were "sport" models. There were only a handful of limited's for sale. As far as I can tell, the main difference is the smooth color matched fenders VS the "garbage can" fenders as I call them, probably better if you wheel your liberty. Leather was an option on the Limited, cloth was standard.
I wanted a limited version mostly cause I like the color matched fenders better, It also came with a factory trailer hitch too. Leather would have been nice, but I actually prefer cloth as a seating surface, too bad the cloth seats in the liberty are such poor quality.
The seat repair is low on the list, first thing will be a DIY "provent". I'll post pics of it when done

I looked at a few in my search for my CRD, there are 2006 sports out there. the sports have the grey/charcoal fender flares the limiteds have body color matched. sports had one type of cloth that seemed to stain easy most limited had leather but in my search I came apon one that had cloth. the cloth was nicer than the sport's cloth and that one had seat covers that were included in the sale.

one I nearly bought was a silver 2005 limited it had leather but no sunroof or hutch.

seems to me there were several levels of options on both sport and limited.

I replied to this thread yesterday but it vanished so I'll try again :| When I went looking in May 06 I found both Sports and Limited's 06 models. The only fully dressed Limited was a 05 "demo" the sales manager's wife drove and they cut the price a whole $700 :goink: I ended up with a "base" Limited. Only options were Sirus and package tray in the rear. I like the chrome plated plastic grill and side trip. It had a list of over $28K and I paid $25K "out the door" including T&T no trade, today and cash :jester: It was almost 6 months old and they knew they had it but had trouble finding it on the lot :ALONE: The Atlantic Blue Clearcoat looks nice with the chrome plastic grill and side moldings.

On the driver's seat foam failing. I started noticing this at about 16k mile and I only weigh 160# :seuss: It's another example of bean counter mentality building cars :grim:

Wow, that's pathetic on the seat. There is no point in replacing it with another jeep seat if they are that bad. I might just start looking thru some wrecking yards for a suitable seat butI'll try and find a local upholstery shop to see if they can fix the base before I go and replace the seat. If so many Libertys have this problem, I'm surprised no one is offering a repair kit for us DIY folks or a packaged repair service.

My '06 is a ltd, but the interior looks like a sport, it depended on which package you got, the upper level ltd had the leather. :CAMPING:

Of course, this is all in contrast to my 05, which has the tow package, sunroof, leather, LSD, but no evic.
